The avg bar pass rate in the US is about 75%. Tulane's avg bar pass rate is 78%. Those pass rates seem very high in comparison to other professional license exams.

Another contributing factor is that the Bar is too easy to pass.
Go tell this to someone studying for the July LA Bar right now. He might literally shoot you in the dick with buckshot.

From what I have seen, it is definitely on an uptick. Whether the uptick is sustainable, idk because many firms put a hiring freeze following the economic downturn in 2009. It's only in the last few years that they have started to hire at the same rate they were before.

Exactly. A law degree can never hurt you. Law school can hurt you due to the time and money commitment. However, if you have money to burn or you can get a free ride, and the time to commit to it, why not?

The bar passage rate in La for the last two bar exams was 53% and 49% respectively.

47% last year. Bar is cinching down on admittance.

This is true. Maybe I am biased, because this is what I have, but I think a CPA is about the most valuable somewhat "easily obtainable"(easy in it doesnt take a bunch of extra schooling, the test sucked) designation someone can get for opening multiple doors. You have the guaranteed public accounting route if you want it, or you can really use it for anything in business. I was pleasantly surprised how many companies love to see a younger person with their CPA

Yup. I just passed FAR and am taking AUD in August.

I wasn't fast enough to slam that number.
The bar is certainly protecting it's own now with lowering that passage rate

The legal profession is a den of thieves and scoundrels.
I took the bar 24 years ago this month. If I could go back in time and do something else, I would. But this is where I am, and this is where I will stay until something better comes along, or I retire.
But I'll talk any young person out of it if given the opportunity.

From what I have heard the law students are freaking the hell out in the new post-conditioning era. It will be interesting to see what this does to enrollment numbers in the fall.

No it doesn't. Virtually every employer who is looking for a job which does not require a JD thinks applicants with a JD fit into one of three categories which are bad for your chances: 1) you couldn't hack it as a lawyer (wouldn't or won't work hard and thus wouldn't be a good fit); 2) you are using their job as a transition job to get back to/wait for a law job; 3) you are overqualified and would be bored doing their nonlaw job.
The height of irony is outside the legal field, a JD can often handicap your chances of getting a job.

The numbers are still trending down. The class about to graduate from LSU had about 40-50 more students than the one below it

From what I understand it's starting to affect the schools. Starting to beef up marketing because they can't just sit back and wait for their classes to fill up.
