The French Revolution wasn't a rejection of the rich, it was a rejection of the aristocracy. Also the French Revolution was made up of various episodes and you're focusing on the Reign of Terror which lasted about a year. Many of the revolutionaries were the bourgeoisie and, in fact, the real force behind the revolution.

FWIW, Bastille Day is/was huge with the hipsters. Like many hipster trends, the rich kids apparently started taking interest, which is why I said "is/was". I can only imagine that interest from someone else has made it lose its appeal entirely to the hipsters.
