I don't find Jimmy to be very physical at all. Especially considering his size. He should man handle most corners in the game but he doesn't. Hopefully having an off season to heal that foot helps him be a bit more physical. We'll see.

He was spectacular early in the season. The foot definitely hurt his production.

Glad he's back. good for him. money well earned.

Even with his below normal season last year against corners (small sample size), he still has great numbers for his career.

quote:

For his career Jimmy Graham has caught 66.2% of passes sent his way when he was being covered by a linebacker, safety or defensive lineman. Those passes went for an average of 12.2 yards per reception and he has notched 41 touchdowns, a score on roughly 10% of his targets.

When Graham was covered by a cornerback, the numbers do indeed drop, but barely. He has caught 63.9% of his targets when covered by a corner, with those passes gaining an average of 10.2 yards and roughly 10% of his targets winding up as touchdowns. Logically, you would expect nothing else. If Graham was so easy to shut down simply by putting a corner on him why would a defense ever do anything else?

Per Larry Holder

Graham's rate vs. corners would rank 81st out of 111 wide receivers last season, tied with Atlanta's Darius Johnson, according to the catch percentage rate compiled at Pro Football Focus. It would be the lowest rate among Saints wide receivers. By comparison, teammate Marques Colston ranked 11th last year, catching 70.1 percent of the passes thrown his direction.

Injury + small sample size

I posted his career stats vs. corners. He scores a touchdown on 10% of his targets

So despite his poor year last year against corners, he still caught 64% of the passes thrown his way compared to 66% in other situations

Didn't he end up hurting Major Wright in '11? I hope it was just the foot last year. I'd love for him to get another chance at the Seattle secondary and plow over someone, preferably Sherman.

CBS has had an article up for 5 hours now saying that it was a 2 year deal.

Wow. Wonder what's up with that. Just about every source has said it was a 4 year 40 million deal. Are they really that clueless or that lazy? Lol

Glad you posted this; I just saw the same thing. What the article stated made no sense and there's no way Loomis would have done this. Two years at $21M...nuts. We would have just let the tag stand for the next 2 years!

I think all the guaranteed money is paid within the first two years. 8 mil this year, and then 13 mil the next. Maybe they were confused by that.

It's just a terrible site. La Canfora has written recent articles for them that flat out said players were on teams that they're not on.

It's actually $12m in signing bonus + $1m in base this year + $8m in base next year that's guaranteed.

$4m cap hit this year and $11m next year. The last 2 years are assumed to be for $12m and $13m.

Why minimize the cap hit so much this year? Seems a bit off IMO. What are they going to do with $4 Million+ this season at this point in time.

I know they save it in case of injuries, but seems like saving some of the hit in future years would be a better plan.

They can carry over the cap space into next season.

I was kind of wondering the same thing. Why not fit as much as you can into this year to make it easier on years to come? UNLESS they're planning on doing another extension.

That's true. I always forget the new CBA allows the carryover now.
