When our Tigers hook up against Nick's Tide...do you think it's "vitriolic and personal", WF?

This is the RANT...the locker room version of debate.

I'm done.

So is that why this board is so vitriolic and personal? It's just entertainment ? And I'm not being facetious with this question.
Pretty much.

I don't mean this as an insult but you sound like you take things a bit too seriously. Why do you let what others say bother you so much?

No offense taken. I really do worry about the future of this country when we are in our present state. I don't think our future is too bright unless we change. And as for here on the board, I really do think all the spewing at each other is not good and is symptomatic of the bigger problem (I have the belief that it is good to be exposed to different views). I don't see that so much on say the OT board or Movie/TV board. But then again if we had a religion board it would probably be worse. Politics and religion-never conversations for family gatherings.

Awful things?

ONOZ.

Oh I know, the things said in the history of US politics is amazing. It just seems to me though we went through a period where it was less of that and now we're cycling back.

Seriously, have you ever actually tried to converse with an actual fricking liberal?

How does one "compromise" with a party who picks as its legislative leaders reid and pelosi and whose chairman is wasserman-schultz?

Fox and Msnbc...now soccer is left v right as well as power sources, words, food etc. I even think it's odd that climate change is so party related, specific. I'm in the O&G industry, but I find some of the fervent conservative support from people who have no idea wtf they're talking about strange. Why such an allegiance to an industry? Weird.

National Review has an interesting piece on neo-feudalism. It has a couple unwarranted partisan shots in it, but the base argument is interesting.

Our country is going through a process of creative destruction right now. The economic model we have followed for the last century is simply unsustainable. Consumerism and endless growth simply can't continue. A new economy is developing at the grassroots level.Americans are having to downsize. It was inevitable. We consume one third of the world's resources. It simply can't continue. It's a natural progression.

What about a party who picks Sarah Palin as its VP candidate? I find that both hilarious and horrifying.

I blame the over saturation of the media, 24 hour news circle and the Internet.

The Internet is one if the greatest things ever invented and has been an invaluable venue and source of free speech and free information, it's to be expected that polarizing divisiveness will be a nasty side effect.

Dude, it's always been like this. Just more visible today. Nothing has changed, it never will with a two party system. The side being "attacked" always thinks it's worse than ever.

More hilarious and horrifying than selecting Joe Biden?

Interesting thought--lots of truth there. Maybe that is part of it, everyone expects the American dream as they define it, it's not there so someone has to be blamed. Downsizing isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Or Reagan. The Reagans were more hated by the left than any president In my lifetime.

Honest inquiry. Why do you think we have arrived at such a state of affairs. You see it here, you see it in the news, you see it in D.C. seems to be just rampant "us against them" mentality.

A) There is a dominant 2 Party system
B) Both parties employ consultants who are very good at their jobs and whose sole purpose is to get party members elected.
C) Each group of consultants have equally divided up the country into special interests in order to sway votes.
D) A cynical mind would guess that the consultants keep things in check to insure their future employment.
E) Something to do with the Free Masons.

Yeah, that's a BOOM!, but also proves that both sides have one up'd each other on idiots....that's not a good direction to beheading...

Seems to me both sides are being attacked pretty strongly. That's the reason I asked why. I do agree with you about the 2 party system making it worse. I thought for awhile there we might see the rise of a strong 3rd party, but not so sure now.
