NOLA.com article
Searched it and found these. I'll try it.
Glad the Byblos on Vets and also the Old Metairie location will both stay.

Good to hear. That Byblos was a waste of space. Hopefully this taco joint is a better option in that price location.
In a similar vein Wise, I popped into the new asian joint on Magazine @ Philip St. called AJ & J's Asian Bistro and looked at a menu. Wasn't very impressed. It's mostly sushi, and they have a couple sections dedicated to things like pad thai and general tso's and a lemongrass noodle dish, etc. .. menu was massive, like they're trying to offer a big variety of different asian cuisines. My guess without tasting any food yet is that they're overextended which makes nothing taste exceptional.

Yesterday was their first day open. It's on the river side of Magazine, on the corner of Philip St. It's pretty nice inside .. they have a cool looking little bar area. Just sucks .. when I saw the name I was kinda pumped; but then learned it's mostly a sushi joint - which was a letdown.

Ha! Wonder how much longer Charcoal survives.

They put a lot of time and money into new construction and ended up with a shitty restaurant in terms of functionality. I find that amazing. The upstairs/downstairs thing is absurd. The one time I ate there was okay in terms of the burger. Just don't have a burning desire to return.

Yeah, that's really weird.
ETA: It'll be a great building for someone to take over after it goes under.

Just FYI Nawlins shut their doors this week. Taped up the windows. I think they're just renovating though.

At this point I think it's just a pride thing. Who are the owners?

I know that makes you sad. I've tried to tell you the food's not good, but you never listen...

They also own something else cafe in the quarter, I think the Slap ya mama guys are from Ville Platte but the owner that I know of is from Houma.
Deep pockets is right from what I've heard.

That's the only conceivable reason they stayed open as long as they did. Though in my limited understanding of money laundering, you need cash velocity.... Not their strong suit.
