it's a law because it's proven to save lives. the whole point of the law is to protect the population because the majority are fricking dumbasses and wouldn't wear their seat belt otherwise.

A seat belt saved my life. Not wearing one is blatant stupidity.
As for the kids, it is shameful not to protect them.

I don't let anybody ride without it. Too many of my friends died early in life because they were too stubborn to put it on.

lol. It's a law because it's extra tax money for the city. It's not the government's job to keep you from being a dumbass.

That said. I always buckle and of course my kids always buckle.

yep, although If I'm just moving the car down the street in my neighborhood (but even then i still will feel odd not buckling.)

Anyone who worries if others are wearing their seatbelt needs a noonie in their mouth.

The law is bullshite. However, I buckle and always make my kids buckle. But if someone is an adult and chooses not to that's their business. They understand the consequences.

This.

How is not buckling a seat belt "trashy"? I wear mine all the time but wouldn't think of someone as trashy for not wearing one. I'm no prick that makes everyone in the car buckle up before I start the car. I'm responsible for myself and nobody else right now. I will make my kids buckle because I am responsible for them, but other than that, it's your life. Do with it as you please.

Also if its the government's job to keep us safe, why are cigarettes still sold? Motorcycles don't have seat belts; they're still legal. The law was instilled to get more tax dollars.
