Wife and I stopped by Pastime yesterday on the way back to Houston for lunch. We each got the roast beef poboy. Asked for a little extra gravy/juice and were told no by the counter girl. Well to bad because the meat was awful and dry. Worst poboy I have had in a while. I always finish my poboys no matter what but just threw mine away after half was eaten. Wifes only had 3 bites before it hit the can. I always had good food there in the past but this visit will be my last.

I never understood the love for their roast beef poboy. Burgers are decent, but my go-to dish there is the boudin pizza pie.

There's rarely any good experiences that come out of that place.

Went once and can honestly say I'll probably never go again. Went on a Friday I think a little after the lunch crowd rush. Go in the little ordering area and we look at a menu and go up to the counter and start telling the lady what we want. She looks at us in disgust and says umm youre supposed to write down what you want on these pads. Oh im sorry, youre the only restaurant in the world where the customer writes their order down on the scratchpad and hands it to you so you can squint at it and try to read it back to me to see if the order is right.

What a terrible way to place orders. So I write down what we want and the lady reads it back yada yada yada. Dont pay and just go sit down. They call us to get food and I go in there to get the pizza and I told the guy I need to pay. He looks at me and goes 'huh?'. Yea I need to pay for my food.

Pizza was average at best. Reminded me of showbiz pizza from the 80s.

Side not. Ill probably be a creepy old man when im older but damn that place had some creepy old men. GF had a shirt that showed some cleavage and I thought some of the old men were either going to have a heart attack from staring at her boobs or start touching their old man parts in the place.

As a kid, I always had a great experience at Pastime. Not so much bc of the food, but bc it meant I was going to watch the Tigers play.

That's why I think that place gets some love.

Pastime is what it is. Pizzas and Canadian bacon cheeseburger poboy are tasty. The Advocate food section once did a write up on their famous roast beef. I would think a normal bizness week lunch hour is great for cleavage watching at Pastime. Do the Wesley's still own it?

I always enjoyed their pizzas... Was the closest pizza place to where I lived in BR. Haven't been there since 2008 though

Failing to understand why you didn't ...
A) ask why not
B) walk the F out

Just got a Facebook notification: "Randy Wesley has changed the privacy of Pastime from open to closed"

I was already in the group (no idea why or when I joined), so it doesn't affect me.

I just want y'all to know I'm at Chimes with someone who has no clue about this thread... And she just ordered an extra side of gravy. LOL.

Poor baby...come back to Pukeston so you can get some "real" service and all the gravy you little heart desires. God forbid a single calorie go to waste in Fat-arse Ville.
