I think a more relatable example would be world cup or national championship. If I had to give up seeing bama win it all for 4 years to win the world cup in 2018 I could. Im in my late 20's and seen them win it 4 times already. They won it before and will at some point again.
God I want to see USA win the cup before I go. I think we could do it as a host nation like France(98) and England (66).

As far as learning, reading the news and, even more so, watching movies helps. But, from my experience, you really just have to be absolutely forced to speak it all the time
Yeah, you're right.

If you took away what the USMNT's success means for the growth of the game in America I would say I put club first, but with that added in i'm country.

I don't have a MLS club, so I'd say country...
That said it would be tough between LFC and USA... I def follow the ins and outs of LFC much closer and usually just keep up with the USMNT on game day...
Given the enormity of the WC and what it would mean to US Soccer, I'd prob go with that...

I think it depends how successful one team is compared to the other. A fan of a successful club team but national team that hasn't won anything in a while would probably say country, and vice versa. I've seen SKC win MLS Cup (and Chelsea the Champions League, though that wasn't as exciting) and I haven't seen the USMNT win the WC so I would definitely say country.

Well look at it this way....would you rather your local NBA team with a title, or team USA win the gold at the Olympics or FIBA?
We want US the win the World Cup more so than club team winning the league because we arent really that heavily invested in a certain MLS or club team. The people over in Europe are, but we arent. So it wouldnt surprise me that some of them want their club to win it all over their Country because they are so heavily invested in their club every year.

I know I'm in the minority on here that lives an MLS city but Sporting KC is favorite professional sports team, for sure.

Club. Simply because it is much more likely that the US becomes a title contender before Sunderland does in my lifetime so this way I'd get both.

Country. I've seen my MLS club (RSL) win a cup and while I would love for my EPL club (Everton) to win one, it's not at the same level as love of country.
