Total: $48m
They'd have roughly $15m in cap space.
The Big 3, for example, they don't count towards the cap at the moment(assuming Wade the other 2 opt out) So the Heat can technically sign a couple of big money deals. Then they could sign the big 3 and go over the $63mil cap figure due to bird rights. But obviously, they won't go too far with that due to the tax penalties.
My main point is they can go over that soft cap amount as long as they sign other guys first.

Lowery is who they are supposedly trying to target. My guess is the same Heat as last year minus Chalmers and Battier. Plus Lowery and Napier.

No they can't. The cap hold is still there even after the Big Three opt out until they sign a new deal either with Miami or someone else.

So then, how does a team go over the cap figure?
For example, I read a lot about how Houston could first sign lebron or Melo then go over the cap to resign Parsons, but only after they sign the other guy first.

I'm not 100% certain on the details, but the rules with Team Options may be different than with Player Options.
Could also have something to do with the hard cap.

I think people are going to be surprised what lebron signs for, all these estimates seem high to me. Also I wouldn't even be surprised if Haslem was promised to be brought into the front office or coaching staff if he took less now, it's been said he is a strong leader on the team.

Maybe. I think Wade gets something like 12, Bosh 14, and LeBron 16. I believe LeBron would gladly take less, but it's also hard to see at the same time.
If all three took some shite like $10m then that's some noble shite.

I think the Heat needed this beat down in the finals (short term loss - long term gain). Had they won, none of these guys would be opting out and presumably taking team friendly deals.
They probably should've done this after last year's championship in hindsight.

Fair enough. The roster still should've been retooled in some manner.

Anybody that thought at any point that Lebron, Wade, and Bosh wouldn't play for the Heat next year are maroons.

Yeah, I always assumed he'd go straight to the Heat front office once he retires, just like Zo.

They should go sign Gortat if they will have all this space.
