They're certainly the biggest winner in all of this thanks to Sasol and Cheniere LNG. Baton Rouge, Lafayette/Broussard, Houma/Thibodaux, and the whole region from New Orleans through Baton Rouge on both sides of the river is booming as well.

Yes it does, but Duck Commander's new factory in Monroe and the Haynesville Shale is certainly helping things up there. The Tuscaloosa Marine shale could really change things across Central Louisiana and the Florida Parishes.

And just a reminder, it's not just about oil and gas...

It really is...it's the driver behind the economy. If the industry goes south, which I don't expect, so will LA's economy...as will TX and OK.

This. The only booming city that's not being driven entirely by the boom is New Orleans because of the medical, tourism, and tech industries. The Sasol project, Cheniere LNG terminal, Methanex, all of the expansions at every plant and refinery up and down the Mississippi River is because of cheap domestic natural gas prices thanks to fraking. Lafayette is booming because they're the ones doing the fraking as well as the drilling offshore.

People can bitch about Jindal all they want but the Louisiana economy is better than it ever has been. Is it all because of him? Obviously not. But, it sure is funny how these days leaders aren't recognized as much as they should be based on the state of their economy.

Sure hope you are right. Would love to see these parishes capitalize on this

The medical sector has been booming here as well. But yeah fraking has been a big boon to our economy.

LA sits on a giant pile of mud (silt). the roads are going to suck due to this.

Mississippi and Texas don't have the same problems. The roads magically get better once you cross the border. But the bigger problem is their inability handle normal traffic. There are daily wrecks along the interstate that back up traffic for tens of miles. And then there is Baton Rouge.

bullshite. Houston has some terrible roads. Pot holes that will literally tear your car apart.

Are you sure you live in the Houston area?

I'd also like to add I-10 from Beaumont to damn near the border which has been under construction for what seems like 30 years.

It's all Biz Con. Some states are business friendly. Some are not. Some administrations on the national level are business friendly. This one is not.

Drive down I20 in Mississippi and it's like being on a roller coaster. Louisiana section looks pristine by comparison.

Delusion.

LA roads are awful. Probably the worst in the U.S.

Things are looking good people.

In the long run, Katrina may have done some good things including giving Nola an enema that allowed it to be rebuilt into a successful, vibrant and booming city.

Texas roads aren't what they use to be and Mississippi roads are any better than Louisiana.

Neither one of these have any thing to do with the roads them selves. Baton Rouge needs a loop.

LA really is not well sited for warehousing.

But I am glad things are going well. Prosperity is a good thing!
