How do you fluke or fake being decent to very good for 2 straight years?

He's good enough as a shooter to keep defenses somewhat honest. The problem is his likely price/years and the way he was used in Washington.

He took ~200 corner 3s (hitting 44%) last year. The Pelicans as a team took ~300 (hitting 38%- that number is the most since 10/11 when they took ~400 and hit them at 37%). League average was about 450, the Wiz took over 500. Even w/o Ariza, they need to generate more corner 3s. Will Monty emphasize those looks and how much of a difference did Wall make for Ariza?

Something else I've been thinking about: how much do they really need from the 3 defensively with Asik on board? He will cover up a lot of mistakes- he certainly did for Houston two years ago and that was without a guy like Davis next to him. I don't know that paying Ariza $7-8M for 3 or 4 years really adds that much. Seriously, I don't think I would be upset with Miller starting and playing 15-20MPG.

This pels fan REALLY wants harrison barnes

quote:

Harrison Barnes is a flat out physical freak on the level of a Andrew Wiggins, He has a better form on his shot release, and he's cheap. Its a no brainer plus because of his age he will be an attractive movable piece if doesn't pan out. Look at our current roster , all overpriced players or just second round value. We couldn't even attract a team to want one of our players for a late first round pick. That shows the vaule of our roster . Can't move Evans because he is overpriced , Gordon overpriced , Anderson too inconsistent , He jacks up more shots than the energy he uses on defense. Even with all we risked in Asik trade, we still not even a Playoff team Warriors, Spurs, Rockets, Thunder, Portland, Dallas, Los Angeles Clip are still far more better teams, healthy Pelicans roster or not. So looking back at trade, We lost another valuable first round pick and another year of not rebuilding in a very important 2015 free agent draft class. Moves like this is the reason why LeBron left his own home to play in Miami..... Demps is not different than the Gm for Cavs. So lets just see how long Anthony Davis waits for management to get things right. He'll be out like Shaq did Orlando , or even more recent. K.Love leaving Minnesota

why enjoy a Player in his development stage just to watch him leave and win with a different team like (Cp3)

That happens a good bit, especially considering his past before that.

Let's take Michael Jordan for instance. Going into his second 3 peat, he was a career 30% 3pt shooter. And during his second 3 peat, he shot:

Yr1: 42%
Yr2: 37%
Yr3:23%

Then 2 season's in Washington when he came back, shot 24% combined.

Magic Johnson once shot 38% in 89'-90', sandwiched by 2 season's where he shot 31% and 32%. He was a career 30% 3pt shooter.

In the end, some guys are what they are. Maybe Ariza has truly morphed into a good 3pt shooter. But if he hasn't, and reverts back to his average ways, it's not going to be someone that we want.
