Is biting someone any worse than Marquez's many intentional studs up challenges?

The obvious point of both is to hurt an opponent. One has the potential to end someone's career, while the other does not. I don't condone either, but just found it interesting that this biting incident (rightfully) provokes so much outrage while Marquez's attempts to injure opponents flies mostly under the radar.

You see shitty tackles like that somewhat often. I liken it to intentionally throwing at batters in baseball; you almost just have to look at it at part of the game. It's still despicable, though.

Biting someone is just so "WTF" it gets more attention.

I'm not saying this because it's the hip thing to say on the Soccer Board. I truly mean it.

Marquez is a terrible person and he is awful for the sport. The shite he does is unreal.

Marquez is the lowest of the low in my opinion. The only way anyone could get lower is if they brought a knife and stabbed people, while chanting racial slurs.

Bad challenges, even if intentional, can be played off as just being a competitor and trying to win the ball at all costs. Biting is well...not usually part of the game.

Unless Suarez is playing, then it is.

Rafa Marquez is the product of the AIDS virus crossbreeding with Hitler.

But biting aslo has potential to spread disease. I don't like Marquez either. But he's not out there with billions watching biting people. That's just absurd. Players get tackled. They don't get bitten. That could have a huge mental affect on someone. Either way saurez should be done for the tourney then they can decide his fate beyond that.

Seriously, you could potentially get all sorts of viruses from being bitten by a human...

I don't see how anyone can defend a player that does this more than any other. LINK

How he is still able to play is beyond me.

I'm with you. Biting to me is like a punch or something that gets alot of attention because it is so obviously out of place.

Bad tackles that intentionally try to hurt another player to me is extremely more egregious

Edit: If i was playing pickup and both happened, i would be trying to fight the person in both situations, but one I would be forgiven and i would prbly play with that person again. The other would either cause me not to play or kick fricking ankles every time i saw that person near me again

I get the comparison but trying to concuss someone seems really really shitty, and I'm not sure that I'm ok with that sort of thing being part of anything other than fighting sports. Again, not condoning Suarez, but the shite Marquez does is way more threatening than a bite, although the bite looks way more insane.

Red Bull fans gradually got tired of Marquez' attitude and half-assed performances. By the end, he was booed loudly by his own fan base every time he got the ball. I do not exaggerate.

I see we have some Marquez sympathizers on the board. Tis a sad day.
