ISDS 710 is a mid-intensive course. I found it to be much less work and much less challenging than ECON 705.

I am officially done. Finished in 5 sessions and kept a 4.0 GPA. The only reason I was able to do this is because I own a business and was able to shift my work schedule around. I’m proud that I made it through despite the adjustments and growing pains of the program.

One thing that I've realized is that because of when I started (Fall AP2), I forced myself down a much harder road than if I would have started during Fall AP1. My Spring AP1 and Summer AP1 sessions consisted of MADM 701, ACCT 701, MKT 701, and FIN 701. I had no choice but to pair those up because they are all AP1 classes. If I'd have started during Fall AP1, I would have attended 3 AP1 sessions and could have spread those out.

PROGRAM
I enjoyed the program and broadened my horizons. Not sure how it will pay off professionally; time will tell. Most teachers are dedicated and try to help as much as possible.

What needs to improve: textbook situation and test return policy

COURSE REVIEWS:

I wanted to continue what @craig_miamifl did with these reviews. I took the same first 8 classes as him, so go look at @craig_miamifl’s post on page 308. It is thorough and well done.
My reviews may seem negative, but I really just wrote the negative stuff. The majority of the professors are great and deserve praise.

ECON705 – Dr. Shaughnessy – Excellent professor. Didn’t realize how great he was because it was my first course
ISDS705 – Dr. Linn – No problem class

MADM701 – Dr. Knotts - Fair class with a teacher that cared, thumbs up
ACCT701 – Dr. Ambrosio – I really enjoyed Dr Ambrosio. He was an active teacher that cared. Highly recommend

MADM715 (Employment Law) – Wren – This was an eye opener. The reading was outrageous. 200-300 pages / week and it often repeated itself. Then the test would ask for the third bullet point on page 57. Shook my head the entire time. Avoid like Bama fans.
MADM760 – Dr. Meeks – Probably the best content in the program. I didn’t love his teaching style, but the class is a well-oiled machine.

MKT701 – Dr. James – Her project timelines are insane. I think she starts to feel bad and gives extra credit and grades easily. But that is little comfort to someone who has spent 40 hours a week on her class for 3-4 weeks in a row.
FIN701 – Dr. Vines – I was disappointed in this class, TBH. I had to teach myself the concepts by trial and error. His text is condensed and consolidated. I wrote out all of my answers before the test. Worked all problems to perfection. I’d take a test and get a 91. When I asked what I missed, I’d get either, computation or definition. That’s it. He’s a known quantity and a good guy, I just don’t think he translates to the online world well.

MKT710 – Dr. Aadel Darrat – Very easy and hands off course. Glad I had it last session as “senioritis” was setting in. Inconsistent grading, but that was more a TA issue than the class.
MADM751 – Dr. Meeks – Exactly like 760 without the quizzes. Easy grading if you do the work. Useful content.

Good luck to everyone in the program. If I can help in any way, just let me know.

Jason,

Congrats on finishing the program! Much respect for cranking it out by taking 2 courses per session while running your business. I run my own business as well but didn't have the courage to attempt that. I only doubled up twice and finished in 18 months. Are you going to attend graduation in December? I highly recommend it if you can.

Also, big thanks for the tip on how to set up a bookmark that will automatically take you to the last page. I was so frustrated to have to set a new bookmark every time a new page was created.

@Jason Congrats on finishing! Completely forgot to mention it but agree 100% on review policy. Was especially the case for Wren's exam offerings littered with obvious errors. Really no reason for no review policy with program going away from text, using Proctorio, and instructors writing their own exams. Imagine it's for accreditation purposes and won't be changed anytime soon even though there's no need for the policy at this point. Obviously accreditation is the huge draw for the program.

So I was in China with family on a 10-day tour at the beginning of this month. Was rocking my LSU gear on 3 or 4 days of the trip. Hoped I might run into some of LSU Nation. No such luck. However, the day we toured the Forbidden City in Beijing, a guy came up to me to let me know he was at Alabama. We ribbed eachother a little. The rivalry is worldwide!

Really? I haven't taken it yet, but I remember someone listed it in the top 3 regarding workload along with MKT 701 and... one of the MADM courses. Scared me enough that I planned to be taking it solo. I couldn't even pair it up now if I wanted to, as by the time I get around to it, I will have finished all the other classes available that session.

Edit: My apologies. I confused 2 courses. I've edited this post to correct it.

In regards to ISDS 702...

I just finished it and I thought it was pretty easy, especially if you've already had ECON 705. It shares some of the content of that course. I actually wished the class was more intensive because Koksal could have easily combined the content of some individual weeks and the course would still be fair.

Having said that, I thought Koksal was great, was very involved in the forum and easily reachable via email, and held Zoom sessions every week. Assuming he continues to teach it, it is a definite recommend from me. One of my favorite classes of the program and I only have one course left.

In regards to Dr Vines, exactly what do you mean "you wrote out answers before test?" Does he give test questions before exam? How did you know the questions?
Thanks and Big Congrats

I think you mixed up the courses, Koksal taught ISDS 702. The ISDS 710 was the Marketing class by M.Darrat w/ the final exam blindside. (Not to be confused w/ A.Darrat teaching MKT701.)

The ISDS 702 class was an absolute breeze if you spend the time to watch the videos, 45 minutes of slow paced videos, do the homework excel while watching. The open book HW test was just pulling answers from your HW excel, then a Proctorio exam that is more theory and takes 10 minutes. Literally a 60-75min per week level of effort.

Oops! You are correct. That's what I get for posting quickly before a meeting. I'll edit my post to fix it.

But yeah, the M Darrat ISDS 710 was pretty easy too outside of the final exam, which he curved. Up to that point it was straight forward writing assignments, and really simple Excel exercises.

Glad to hear that.

Officially halfway done with the completion of ISDS 702. Headed in to Acct 701 and then doubling McLaughlin 760 and ISDS 710 in AP2. I’m prepared for a lot of writing but luckily that usually comes fairly easily for me. Fin701 and an elective in the spring and I should be all sewn up.

I started spring AP1 so 8 sessions total, not too bad.

I just noticed the McLaughlin portion of MADM for AP2. Its filling up and has 1good review on rate my professor. Haven’t heard anything about this instructor, is this the more desirable course? Thinking about dropping Meeks and switching. Any advice appreciated!

Meeks is routinely identified as one of the best profs in the entire program. I have yet to see anything negative stated about him.

Agreed, Meeks best professor in the program. By a wide margin in my opinion. While his academic credentials are impressive, his "real world" accomplishments related to entrepreneurship and business start-ups is even more so.
