Hello,
Can you please explain me the process of ACCT 701 final exam? How will it be taken?
Dr. McGee says it is open book and open notes, I'm not sure what does it mean.
Can we also open notes that we have taken on laptop on One Note ?
Can we use internet to do research while we're giving finals ?
is this recording our activity when we're doing exams ?
Please explain the process of how to give final exam.
Thank you.

I feel for you guys that doubled up something with MKT this term. It's certainly not a difficult class, but even making it through the BS factor of this project takes forever. I can't even imagine trying to carve out the time for another course in the middle of this.
I guess it helps that I'm unemployed right now.
That said, I have some catching up to do. I've only got about 3 pages or so written. With the third MKT701 mini-paper ("Application Forum") coming up next week, I need to get this slammed out.

It is an open book, open notes, open laptop, open web browser, open everything exam. You can use whatever information you have at your disposal, in whatever format you have it.
It is not proctored, meaning there is no camera or recording. It also means that your exam will not be in full screen, "block every program you have on your computer" mode. It is the same setup as every other quiz and assessment in the course.
The time limit to take the exam was extended to 120 minutes due to issues with the previous quizzes and assessments earlier in the course (i.e. the week 4 quiz and assessment disaster that caused many in the class to drop an entire letter grade). If you are well organized and have read all of the material, you will be fine. You may not have enough time to finish the exam if you have to look everything up.

Hi M123 and SOVA Gal, I was wondering those same things. Would love to hear more. SOVA Gal I'm signed up to go and my husband booked my flight tentatively using some free points he had. Let me know if you're going...

FL Sun/SOVA Gal -
The project was a case study. You just had to make recommendations - write a paper only, no presentation. The paper was what you learned from your experiences in Australia. And the test were questions from what the lectures were about, but it was open book/laptop. You submitted answers on Moodle. NOTHING like any of the other classes. Pretty laid back. Definitely not James' MKT class! I knew not to take her as I went to LSUS for undergrad. :)
I spent 2 days in Sydney, flew to Sunshine Coast to go to the Australia (Steve Irwin) zoo (a dream of mine since I was 5 or so), took train next day to Brisbane to see a cousin who was working there, skydived the next day, went back to Sydney and had to check in the next day (Sunday). While in Sydney on my own, I went to the Australia Museum, saw the Christmas Lights on St. Mary's Cathedral (look it up, pretty cool), went to Sydney Zoo and Aquarium, the Opera House (have to do tour to actually go in and see the inside), took a tour bus around the city to different places.
The GBR was awesome! I got certified to scuba dive before I went. So I was able to scuba dive. They will give you a short "how-to" on how to scuba dive on the boat, or you can snorkel. Then the next day you go on a day trip through the rain forest of Cairns. Then you fly home the next day (3rd day).
The other things you can do while there, and they will send you information, is climbing the Sydney Harbor Bridge (highly recommend), surf camp (I did it - only do if you're a hippie type person; I never though of myself as high maintenance until that camp), and then they have a walking tour they did over by "The Rocks" that I enjoyed. It was very interesting - they talked about how they first founded Australia, etc.
That's all I can think of for now.

Who should I take for ISDS 702 and ISDS 710? Are these classes difficult? Please advise. Thank you!

I have ISDS 702 next term, not sure there is much of a choice for professor.
Regarding ISDS 710, I'm currently taking it with Darrat. Once you get past the fact that the course title is not really accurate, it's really Data Driven Marketing, it's not that bad. There are 4 3-5 page papers due weekly in the first 4 weeks, where you read a 20 page case study, then write up an analysis of the case study on the analytics issues involved. There is the weekly discussion forum post and replies to other students. These are all graded fairly generously. Then there are 4 homework assignments, which are Excel based, doing Pivot Tables, some simple ECON Week 2/3 type problems that use Solver and graph Demand curves, then there is one that involves pricing using Linear Regression (Next week) with a Final at the end which is open book.
I would say it is harder than ISDS 705 but easier than ACCT 701.

quote:Good luck with this one. Koksal is not a very good professor. The homework and practice problems differ from what is actually on the exam, or did when I took it in the Spring. I barely got by with a B.

Thanks for the feedback JC.
I'll be switching to either mkt 710 or MADM 751.
too bad, I was hoping it would have been better.

ACT701 Test much better this week. Still a couple of trick questions though; one of which I intend to dispute. Test 4 may have ruined my chances at an A in the class though. 2 more weeks! And I am eagerly counting them down. This term has been stressful.

Woo Hoo! We don't have to do Assignment#3 in MKT701 and we get all 75 points by responding to a poll!

I logged in this morning and she said something about the application assignment being available tomorrow and due next Tuesday. If that's turned into free points for taking a survey, that's awesome!

MKT701 Project, part#2
The body of part#2 of my project is only 14 pages long. I feel like 14 pages of text might be light since I wrote 21 pages of text for the first assignment. Does 14 pages seem right, or am I missing a lot of work?
Thanks for any feedback!

Sactown i'm with you. Mine feels short at 16 pages long (excluding title and reference pages). She did say that they might be shorter and with less external research and sources. I'm probaly going to hand mine in as is.
Really looking forward to clarification about this Final Application forum. On the main page she says we wont have to do it and instead will fill out a survey. But in the weekly to do list she says it will be due next Tuesday.

Hi Mtntreks,
Now this is up..
I was originally going to make this due during week 6, but I thought most of you would be working on you working on your marketing plans, so the due date will be in week 7, and the topic will relate somewhat to the information in that chapter. I'll post the forum Tuesday Morning so your have a full week to work on it.
Bummer!

Agreed, quiz and assessment were way better this week. Despite blowing the Week 4 assessment I have a shot at pulling out an A.
This term can't end soon enough...

Why is not shocking that there would be contradictory info and confusion about the Final Application Forum? Absolutely love that someone screenshot for all to see.
Less then 2 more weeks of this busy work nonsense.
Edit: My guess is she had that verbiage from last session's course and didn't make them do Application 3. (Much like the Fitbit notes in our Project Templates)
