Some people say they did absolutely nothing but took the test using open book. Im scared to do that, plus I want to read and put some effort in, dont want to lose my 4.0 because i did not try. What about you?
I've had this same thought process. I'd hate to bomb because of a lack of effort. I'll do like most and put forth a solid effort for test one so I can gauge for myself what needs to be done for the next 2.

I'm planning on just using the search function. I've talked to a couple posters on here who have given me solid advice in the past and that's the advice they gave. I'm halfway through and made a B already so I'm not as worried about my GPA as I was before. In your case, I don't blame you for wanting to be over prepared to keep your 4.0

ISDS 705 is my last class and I plan on using the search function on the exam and just wing it. This forum has yet to steer me in the wrong direction after taking 8 courses and the majority of posters recommend just searching on the exam! Hope it works! With 3 exams, after the first one we will know if this approach will work or not and make changes if needed. Good luck!

I will keep that similar plan. Put forth a good bit of effort on test one, at that point, I can gauge what I need to do on the final two tests. Most open book classes I just skim the material several times that way I kinda know in general where to look for things even though using search function.

Those of you in ISDS 705, how are you planning on approaching it?
I have a question regarding this as well. Can someone who has already taken the class tell us if the questions are all multiple choice? Or does he throw some true/false in there as well?

I took ISDS 705 the last time it was offered 2 terms ago. The exams are about 85% Multiple Choice and 15% T/F.

He answers most all questions on Moodle in his various attachments. Take a look at "Test #1 in Details"

Well I'd like to actually learn something so I intend to read the chapters, watch the videos, etc. If the material is common sense stuff like MADM 701 and MKT or stuff I already know, then I'll slack off. It's my only class so I have the time to invest.

Hey guys- I have never used Proctorio before, how stressful is it? I guess my other courses all had open note/open book exams, so I have never had to worry, but this makes me nervous for some reason.

No worries needed ashley. Prior to taking exam it does a system check, mic check, camera check, validates your ID, then you are good to go. That may take about 5 minutes. At some point during the test it will prompt you to scan the room with the webcam. Some say they have never been prompted... I always have. Even for 10 minutes exams. Unlike ProctorU, no one is on the other side watching you. It's just recording.
What class?
What class?

Proctorio is super easy to use. It's a plugin for Google Chrome that does several checks on your computer then allows you to take the exam. I was never asked to scan the room and I used it last term for Mkt. I guess it varies person to person. There's also no need to schedule when you take the exam like with ProctorU

Just finished reading chapter 2 for ISDS705 and man was it boring. The material does not flow well and there is a lot of grammar errors in the text that made it harder to read. I was always terrible in grammar classes and am not an avid reader but this text is not an easy read. Am I the only one that thinks this?

For MADM752- family business.
Thanks for the advice.
I guess I am downloading google chrome on my mac. Yuck.

signa7, Yes, the ISDS 705 textbook is not exciting reading for sure.

Those of you who are in ECON 705 with me, I am a little confused with the ECON 705 setup. Is the tab labeled Multimedia the video we need to watch to complete the quiz, or is the video embedded in the quiz?

So what exactly is an "Academic Coach?" I got some long email from somebody other than Dr. Knotts in MADM 752 this morning.
While the LSUS MBA is quite nicely priced, I'm still paying for graduate credits and was not expecting a TA or something like that to teach and/or grade my assignments.
I'm over halfway through the program, and this is the first I've seen of this, so I'm really confused.

MKT 701, MADM 701, MADM 710, MADM 720 all had "coaches" when I was enrolled in them. I wouldn't doubt Meeks uses them behind the scenes for grading in his classes. With 500 people per class and a week or less to turn around grades, I think we'll only see more of this unfortunately.

I think the academic coaches are doctorate students. Just my guess. They are hit and miss. The academic coaches in MADM 701 last fall were not consistent at all with the grading.

Oh yes, Winchester, I recall that MADM 701 class last fall and the academic coaches we had. I got very lucky as I was assigned the same academic coach that I had just had in MKT 701 the term before. She already knew my writing style so that helped. But I remember many frustrated students as grades were not consistent.
And yes, the academic coaches must have a Doctorate degree to be a coach. My wife works for the same firm that LSUS uses for their coaches. She has a Masters in Microbiology (yes, she's the true brains of this family!) so is only allowed to coach undergrad students. Coaches for Grad students must have a Doctorate.

My coach for MADM 701 had a MBA. I'm not sure how they are selected. He was very consistent and grading was fair.
