Thoughts on the MADM 701 exam?
Some of the questions were very ambiguous and some were incredibly simple. I sure didn't expect to have to know numbers or statistics from the text.

Honestly, I'm not sure how much the assessment questions helped. I agree asking for stats threw me for a loop. I managed to get a 90 on the exam, but I put a lot of effort into this first module.
I read the chapters, looked over the ppt, then reviewed the assessment qs (again). Anything I had questions on I went back over in the chapter. Trying to finish the discussion post now. This is going to be a busy course.

I scored the same and also spent a ridiculous amount of time preparing for it. Submitted my forum post Friday. Those are pointless. You can acknowledge your understanding of the material in 300 words or less... the rest is just bullshite. This is quickly becoming my least favorite class in the program and that sucks because I'm interested in the subject matter. Going to be a long 6 weeks.

Same here, I was initially excited about the subject matter as well, so I can definitely relate. Let the count down begin....

Looks like old MADM 701 hasn't changed much from a few sessions ago. Hopefully your GA grades the discussion forums fairly consistently. And the exams are pretty much the same the rest of the way. Was definitely my least favorite class of the program.

Hi Julie, The textbook (and this comment is true for every Module) gives you way more than you need. I think the slides are closer to what you actually need to know. Unfortunately, this textbook blends heavy concepts I would entirely avoid (like Lower of Cost or Market) with basic concepts (like expenses and Cost of Goods Sold). Just stick to the slides and be aware of how the textbook is organized in case you need to reference to it during the assessment. Fabio Ambrosio
Guess I won't be doing any reading this week

MADM 720 was my least favorite

Just took the ACCT quiz and assessment with only looking at the PowerPoint. Missed one on each mostly because I can't read .
The assessment was mostly the same as last week but not 100%. Despite what he said on the forum, all the questions/answers were directly from the text so keep the search function handy.

brentb I got 9/10 on the quiz as well and it was a tricky question. I didn't see many of the T/F from the chapters on the quiz though. Were the M/C questions on the assessment?

I was able to find all but one on the assessment simply by searching the textbook. Be aware this Module covers Chapters 7 & 9 so you will have to open both .pdfs to search. Part one is chapters 1-8 and part two is chapters 9-18.

Winchester, Most were but not all.

Most of the ACCT answers can be found in the 'understanding the learning objectives' at the end of each chapter.
I hope his exams follow a similar format.

FIN 701 first test starts in a couple days. Seems like a lot of people said to know the reading guide and be more prepared for the analytical problems than the quantitative probs. Is there a real need to read (and study hard) the text book aside from the sections that are suggested and highlighted inside the reading guide?
Most people seem to have had the most trouble with the first test, so I don't want to start behind the curve if possible. I haven't read any of the text book itself yet, so I want to make sure I utilize the time I have left appropriately.

AstroTiger, I read all of the text for the first test just to be safe. It wasn't really necessary. After that I read the guide then the textbook focusing on what was in the guide. If it wasn't at all mentioned in the guide, like some of the international stuff, I skipped that section. It doesn't really take a lot of time that way and I definitely think it helped.

Maybe I'll skim through it. I had house guests and the weekend started early and went longer than I anticipated, so I'm in a mini-panic mode for not being as far along studying as I had planned.

I chose to go the Finance Specialization route and currently taking FIN 720 this session for my last FINANCE course to complete the specialization. We are approaching our first test this weekend and I am looking for any input from others on what to expect out of this course and test. Where in "rank" does the FIN 720 course line up to the other FINANCE courses as far as difficulty is concerned?

I should be done reading the text by the end of tonight but it just feels like a ton of material to digest and know well enough to answer free form questions on in under an hour. I keep reminding myself that I have until Saturday morning to take the test, though.
My initial goal for the classes in the program so far has been to (potentially) over-study in the beginning so I ace the first couple of tests / quizzes and can relax a bit toward the end when my enthusiasm for the subject starts to wane. Hoping I can continue that with this class.

I felt they were all about the same with the difference being between Vines and Hesieh. Vines exams seemed easier.
