I just finished the ISDS 705 exam. Finished with almost an hour to spare and it would have been faster with an eBook as I did a lot of page flipping to validate my initial responses. The questions were straightforward and my first instincts were right about 95% of the time without any checking in the text. Most questions were right from the book but I saw a couple from the extra readings. I feel really good about it. Next time I'll have an electronic version of the text to save some effort.

Nolamom, thanks so much for sharing and relieving the stress many of us have been feeling.

How was the experience with ProctorU?

New joiner with an anticipated start date in August.

I work full time in public accounting and my plan is to take 2 courses each term from August through December. January through April, I plan to reduce to just 1 course each term during busy season.

Although I'm an accountant, I enjoy writing. That said, what 4 courses are easy/light enough to double up on for my first two terms in the program? The general consensus so far seems to be ACCT 701 and FIN 701 together. I guess I'll go with that, but what other two courses are recommended to tackle together?

Thanks in advance.

Actually jwilliams, I would suggest pairing more quantitative classes like ACCT and FIN with writing classes like the MADMs & MKT.

Are you looking at a specific specialization or concentration? With your background, ACCT 701 & FIN 701 should be a breeze. I wouldn't waste that by taking them together. Pair them with more time consuming courses. Maybe ACCT or FIN 701 with MADM 701 or an Elective in Fall AP1, FIN730(Elective) or ECON 705 with MADM 760 in Fall AP2. MKT and an Elective or ISDS 705 in the Spring sessions, then double up again in Summer AP1 with the other of FIN701/ACCT and Elective/MADM 701. Whatever 2 you have left in Summ AP2. Just my opinion.

Thanks for your input brentb71.

I think pairing quantitative with writing sounds like a great idea.

My specialization, not concentration, is in Finance.

So if I'm understanding you correctly, you say

Writing intensive:
- MADM 701
- MADM 760
- MKT 701
- ISDS 705? I've taken a course by the same name in undergrad...no math in that one, but no real writing either

The two electives I'm interested in are MADM 720 or ISDS 702. So MADM is writing intensive and I presume ISDS is more quantitative.

I need to decide whether taking 4 easy courses this year is more important than spreading out easy and pairing with time intensive. In order to qualify for tuition reimbursement through my firm, I need to get at least a B. This is the only reason I may consider pairing two easy courses together each of the two terms this year. That, and I'm trying to max out the reimbursement for the 2017 calendar year.

jwilliams, The ISDS classes have no writing. MADM 720 will.

I did all the tasks Dr. Lin assigned except for the in-chapter questions. I have been in the IS field for about 22 years so I didn't feel the need to do that much prep.

Just finished the ISDS 705 exam. It was not bad. Having a PDF of the textbook is huge help. Finished in an hour and a half. I took my time. Went through the exam, flagging ones to go back to for further analysis. I flagged 8 and felt good about the answers once I went back and spent more time on them.

Good luck to everyone else!

I'll be taking my ISDS705 exam in about another hour... I have a few questions...

1. Was the setup of the questions like the example he gave in moodle? I somehow doubt the question will tell you to refer to a certain page in the text like it does in his example

2. Was only the e-book allowed? I was told that any e-document could be referenced so long as you have it ready before the exam (i.e., word docs)

3. What was the ProctorU experience like?

All e-books and PDF's allowed. Use search function. ProctorU was fine.

Questions were like on Moodle, not page references. E-book was allowed, and used for every question. I didn't care for ProctorU. I am in a hotel and used the conference room. It took like 25 minutes before I tested.

Best advice would is to create a PDF with only the chapters covered for the 2 modules. Ctrl F the rest of the way using key words and you should be good.
