What Do You Do With Your AMEX Points?

I can never make up my mind.
My first bonus 25K went to a $250 Brooks Brothers card.
Starpoints is the biggest ripoff around, way, way too expensive.
I'm thinking I might just get $200 Ruth Chris gift card and call it a day.
$176 worth on Amazon.

GC's is the only logical answer... The best ratio on there.

Any type of Bonus to transfer them to DL? If so I'll give you the cash
ETA: Why look to burn them? Save them up until you need them/ want something in particular

i use it towards hotels or flights. its the best bang for my buck on my card. i usually only get about 300-400 on my card a year. Im no OT baller.

Been letting mine build up for years, going to wait until we have enough for 2 round trip first class plane tickets somewhere we havent been.

I'm never gonna get that many points anymore. Platinum doesn't accrue like that. I was spending like 3-4K a month and got barely any credit.

I've looked and every time I have, the ratio just doesn't make sense... Only thing I have found that provides a solid ratio is gc's to restaurants and retails. Hell, even if you shop on their site, a lot of the ratios are shite compared to just buying a gc and going to a store.
Its not like Chase Sapphire where you get 20% additional if you book through them, unless I am completely missing something.

I just bought 2 first class tickets from a year and half of saving up points with my Amex.
3-4k a month were my high months

A couple years ago, I cashed them in for $2500 in Home Depot gift cards and bought a really nice refrigerator.
I put everything I buy on my AMEX, that was almost four years worth of points and it felt good.

well, i have the blue skies card. its one of the few that doesnt have a fee. I have actually been thinking about switching reward cards to get better bang for the buck. I just havent wanted to pay for an annual fee.

That's literally 250,000 points. Or a quarter million dollars spent. Yeah, I ain't ever doing that.

I will typically buy Delta flights with my MR points

I have the Hilton Hhonors Amex. Thinking about switching though bc I don't do a ton of traveling and the main way to accrue points is staying at Hilton branded hotels.

I do Amazon and Zappos. The shoes I'm wearing were bought with Amex points. It's not a great rewards program.

Walmart gift cards or amazon gift cards.

I have 78,907 sitting there right now. Not sure if I should transfer to an airline and go somewhere or just let them keep accumulating. I still have 50,000 or so in my Southwest acct so I really don't need travel. Nice to know I have them though if I needed them.

Really? I have the Preferred Gold Rewards card and I've racked up over 50,000 points in about 2 months. 3X on airline tickets and 2X on gas and groceries plus I dump a lot of business expenses on it.
Even at $3-4k if you spend on the right categories you should be racking up some nice point totals.
To the OP. I'd never buy gift cards with them. It devalues the points. Airline miles transfer for me.

You're missing something. I can transfer my Amex points out to British Airways and twice a year I get up to a 40% bonus on miles. So 100,000 points transfers out to 140,000 BA Avios.
