Do you think many Americans understand how bad the rest of the world actually is

Just talking to my woman about it because she saw a couple of seconds of that ISIS video. She thought it was crazy that some people can do those things, and I said it was normal protocol for a good chunk of the world. I think that we are a unique society compared to how the rest of the world(except western Europe and Scandinavia) operates, and have been completely isolated from it.
I mean, look at any gore sites and you see stuff from Central and South America, the entirety of Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, India, Russia, and if more got out from Asian countries, them too. You have people being stripped naked, drug through the streets, burned alive, buried alive, hands chopped off, dunked in acid, decapitated, hung, kidnapped for ransom, etc regularly and most people of these countries don't give two thoughts to these happenings.
I just think the US would be much more desensitized to it if they knew what went on all around the world, or possibly cherish the luxuries we have here.

No.
Most people have enough shite to worry about in their own lives.

After watching that chilling video, I understand why America has tried to be the world police.

I just watched 30 minutes of that 60 minute ISIS video...I couldn't view any more. Jesus

The US murder rate is higher than many of those countries. However it is concentrated in such a small segment of the population that it is easy for most middle class people and beyond to have the feelings you describe.

The vast majority of our murders are actually reported, too. I don't know if you can say that about the 2nd and 3rd world.

Fortunately our immigration system allows these people to come here

Right, I do think it is imprecise, especially in regards to honor killings, but not to the point where a country with half the US murder rate actually has more murders.

I have seen a whole bunch of gorey videos, and to be honest, that was soft compared to what's out there, and much softer than what isn't out there.
shite, not many Americans can even watch videos that an entire town of people participate in while living in other countries
quote:I definitely agree with this, but I'd go further and say that, besides a select few, they have absolutely no idea what actually goes on here. Even if they did, it would be too scary to do anything about

Nope.
Nor do they realize how fricked up this world would be without America... well, without what America used to be... before Unity, diversity, equality, outrage. All that stuff.
