It sounds like your son is going to be an architect.
Congrats on retiring rich.

Prolific gaming in childhood has shown to create social dysfunction and isolation.
Sure, it can promote many good skills, hand/eye, quick decision making, et all, but it needs to be done in moderation.
The behavior described in this OP is absurd.
Dude, go be a grumpy baby boomer somewhere else.
Kudos to OP for the way he's approached this. I'm 29, I play video games all the time, have ever since high school, and I have plenty of friends.
Seriously though, if it gets bad, it might not be a bad idea to turn PVP off. Playing video games with other people is fun, but it can get vicious for children and teenagers. I hate minecraft, but if I was that into that game, I think it'd be something I'd want to play by myself, just to get away from the world every once in awhile.

Okay, congrats on retiring with children that actually have successful, rewarding careers.

I enjoyed this thread. It had the always entertaining super parents (who may or may not have kids), with an interesting technology/gaming twist.
I might have to check this game out. Oh, and put my son up for adoption in advance since I assume he is going to hit his siblings who are not even born yet.

mikelbr, how long do you allow them to play each day?

They don't get more than an hour during school year if that. Weekends and summer a powersurge is purely arbitrary like 'cuz I said so', disciplinary when they fight, or weather/travel related. I try and mimick my childhood schedule(well we had no portable games except them relic led games). More outside than inside when daylight is rule of thumb

I limit to an hour as well, and only after homework is done. 2 hours on the weekend. Summer is the same schedule. I don't even like giving them that much time but I think there can be some things learned from it all.

I don't understand everyone and every game maker's obsession with multiplayer.
Multiplayer is bullshite. Seriously. It doesn't matter if you're 5 years old or 50, there's always somebody who is going to frick your shite up in multiplayer JUST BECAUSE THEY CAN.
I say wipe that fricking world off the hard drive and make them play their own individual worlds.
They can earn time to play in their individual world by making good grades and cutting the grass and washing your car.
He who serves best, plays most.
Act like an a-hole when others are playing... lose privileges for a week. Punch your sister? Lose privileges for a month.
I'm not a video game hater. I love video games. But I have no trouble taking that shite away and making them earn it back.

AfrickinMen. God I long for single player rpg, adventure, and fps. I'm the most social dude in any setting except cyberspace games.

Now I do love me some co-op games, like Borderlands.
So much fun.
So much fun.

I know. And we didn't see it happening. They know better than that. And his sister is bigger than him and scratches his face when we're not looking. It's fair fighting at this age but he knows it's trouble if he hits her in the face. I said that earlier. He knows man code on that topic.
