Need some advice on NOLA

I'm planning a trip to NOLA in August. I was born in Hammond but I moved out of LA early in my childhood. I've been to New Orleans on family trips, but I've never been able to experience the night life there. What bars, restaurants, and casinos should I check out? Our hotel is right next to the Harrah's. Is this a nice casino?

Whats the age range of your group? We usually like uptown bars better but thats more of a college crowd....since you're already downtown I'd say check out goldmine and cats meow. If you do decide to cab it to uptown then go to grits.

I've been hearing about Colette's. You and your spouse may enjoy it.

Plenty of fun goes down in August.
Satchmo Summer Fest, White linen night, Red dress run, Naughty in N'awlins, Dirty linen night, and if you're into that kind of thing, Decadence.
Harrah's is pretty nice, been a while since I've been but Masquerade was a good time with decent talent. If you spot the skinny blonde go-go dancer there, tell her I says, "sup".

Get some hurricanes at Pat O's, take a stroll down Bourbon, and then go blow your money at the casino.

it's been a while but i always liked opera night (singing waitstaff) at Cafe Giovanni restaurant, music at One Eyed Jacks, and home brew at Crescent City Brewhouse.
