Throwing some love for Darrel Williams

All of the attention has been placed on Fournette and rightfully so, but I'm just as excited about Williams as I am about Fournette. He doesn't have great break away speed, but he reminds me of a spencer ware/ Jacob Hester guy that refuses to go down and will abuse defenders. He also has soft hands coming out of the backfield which is what Cam likes. Wanted to give a shout out to this young man and look forward to him having a promising career as a tiger.

Im with ya man. Im at the point now, where Im really just happy about the incoming class as a whole. So many great kids with the right attitudes.

He's going to punch some people in the mouth with his style (figuratively). It will great to see, to me it is just as enjoyable as a great evasive run... as long as we get a good dose of both.

As opposed to punching people in the back of the head, huh?

Yea I agree.
LF gets all the attention and excitement, as he should. He deserves all that he gets. But, a lot of people are overlooking Darrel Williams. He knew we were gonna get LF, and he didnt care. He could have went to any other school that offered him, and most likely would be a lead back at some point in his career. And he still picked LSU.
Tells me a few things.... 1st, hes not afraid to compete against the best. Which is awesome, especially now a days when these young men all want to be the starter and be the guy. 2nd, it tells me that he really loves LSU and is willing to do whatever we ask him to do.
Hes gonna be a fan favorite for us IMO. Might not see that many carries early on, but will bust his arse for us and will be a special teams all star early on. And when he does get his opportunity to get a few carries, he wont disappoint.

People are excited about LF and rightfully so but DW will be a very pleasant surprise. Hes an absolute bruiser.
Im pretty excited about damn near every guy in this class though

I had a great conversation at the spring game with the father of one of the incoming freshmen and while he said that LF is a stud, don't sleep on Williams. Over the next several years he and LF are going to be a great 1 - 2 punch.

Fournette and Wms - a bigger James and Hilliard or Davis and Toefield.

He runs with great vision and toughness. He is going to do great things before he leaves Tigertown.

Agree with this on the size/speed characteristics and the physical nature, but I believe he actually has better vision than Ware. Not saying that Ware's vision was bad, but those highlights show Williams finding creases that aren't necessarily obvious until after he arrives there. This guy will surely be a solid contributor and more than capable of getting enough snaps to keep Fournette fresh.

a "football punch in the mouth"

Those two will never live up to the hype like Fab Five Frosh Toomer, Moore, Sharp, Davis and Butler did. Word.

This x 100. LF is not getting 30 carries a game and many on this board are going to be disappointed. Les pisses me off sometime, but the guy knows how to manage a stable of RBs.

Well said.
With Guice coming and KH being unpredictable I think D Williams plays this year.

Hes a punisher with decent speed. What I like is that his feet NEVER stop moving. He will get stronger and faster once he gets elite training.

Was gonna say about the comparison to Ware, you mean he avoids the hole to run right into defenders? Sorry SW, but vision was lacking

Reggie Bush & Lendale White 2.0
Posted on 6/8/14 at 8:52 pm to jtran1988
Nah... not bush and lendell white! more like Charles Scott and Jacob hester 2.0. Then when our backs from next year get there it will be ronnie brown + cadillac Williams + Jacob hester + Charles Scott + mike alstott. Better believe ducre will be getting handoffs and swing passes out the a**!
Last time I checked out these highlight tapes there was no running from top to bottom to top to bottom then backwards, then forwards then backwards again (SO NO REGGIE). All of these backs are bruisers. Im pretty sure there will be some sickness coming with 2 backs and shotgun formation. It'll sure be nice to have 4 running backs deep at 220lbs and up and a 240+ lb fullback all running in the 4.4-4.5 range. Cam's offense will be legit in 2 years when he has the players he is having recruited to fit the exact scheme he wants.
