The new legislation – The Pause for Safety Act – will include the following provisions:

• One, it would help ensure that families and others can go to court and seek a gun violence prevention order to temporarily stop someone close to them who poses a danger to themselves or others from purchasing a firearm.

• Two, it would help ensure that families and others can also seek a gun violence prevention warrant that would allow law enforcement to take temporary possession of firearms that have already been purchased if a court determines that the individual poses a threat to themselves or others.

• Three, it would help ensure that law enforcement makes full use of all existing gun registries when assessing a tip, warning or request from a concerned family member or other close associate.

I can't make sense of this one?

Any one else?

This is already available and was not used prior to the CA shooting last month.

I'd be shocked if it made it out of committee.

Waiting for the professional trolls to come in here to tell you all that you are crazy tin foil hat wearing ignoramuses.

I love watching California slowly implode on itself but hate the fact whats wrong with them is contagious.

Wait, wait, wait, didn't our self-proclaimed "independent" VOR (VoiceOfRetardation) come on here and mock people who made the "outlandish" claim that there are Democrat politicians who want to confiscate people's handguns???

MORON.

Feinstein/Boxer Introduce Federal Bill to Confiscate Guns in cases involving Court assessed MENTAL INSTABILITY.

I have no problem with this as long as criterion assessing mental instability are reasonable and clear, and ability to reasonably petition court for return of guns is in place.

and others

The only part that worries me. With some of the crazy questions they are asking at the Dr.'s office right now. What if someone reports you that you only met 1 time and they think you are a danger because of some perverted set of ideals they have.

I didn't click the link but this:

quote:

Is not this:

quote:

• One, it would help ensure that families and others can go to court and seek a gun violence prevention order to temporarily stop someone close to them who poses a danger to themselves or others from purchasing a firearm. • Two, it would help ensure that families and others can also seek a gun violence prevention warrant that would allow law enforcement to take temporary possession of firearms that have already been purchased if a court determines that the individual poses a threat to themselves or others. • Three, it would help ensure that law enforcement makes full use of all existing gun registries when assessing a tip, warning or request from a concerned family member or other close associate.

And not one person (at least on the first page) called you out for this misleading title. In fact it's the usual suspects joining in the circle jerk.

If you want a discussion, be intellectually honest. Unless you're too ignorant to understand the language you posted.

i don't really reject the concept of the first 2, as long as there is legitimate due process and seizure does not occur prior to granting the person due process, unless imminent danger is presented.

I'm gonna need to see a list of what would disqualify someone from having a gun.

It seems like this would be overly abused. People could file one of these prevention orders for just about anything they wanted. A wife during a messy divorce, a parent who got into a spat with the umpire at a little league game, a teacher who got an angry phone call from one of her student's parents.

This bill will never pass. It makes me happy to see the left fight tooth and nail for gun control that we all know is never coming.

It's because of folks like Feinstein and Boxer that some rural northern California counties are trying to seceed from the state and form a new state. They resent the fact that the folks in San Francisco and Los Angeles can impose their anti-gun agenda on them just because they're outnumbered. There's also a similar sentiment in upstate New York where the rural New Yorkers are at the mercy of the gungrabbers in New York City because they have the numbers. Any government that has to rule over people who are very diverse culturally, will always be susceptible to secession movements. Just look at what's going on in Europe these days, in Scotland, Venice and Catalonia.
