Will Louisiana ever get either of these in my lifetime?
and if so, which do you think will be the first to be distributed here?

Yuengling first. DFH should be, not sure why it hasn't yet.

Both Don't have the brewing capacity to come to LA yet, it's not that we are not going after them.

I want Lagunitas! Especially since it was recently announced they'd be in Mississippi.

Yuengling I can understand.. but Dogfish Head is in Texas and 30 plus other states on both coasts.

How soon are you going to die?
The answer is probably yes. They will both be here eventually.

Patience. They just started producing at their new 600,000 bbl brewery in Chicago. It's only a matter of time.

Been hearing that for 5 years..
are they pretty much the two biggest independent breweries not yet in Louisiana or am I forgetting any?
Edit: Nevermind, found this LINK

Uh, yeah.
There are a bunch that you are forgetting. Three that are in TX (and most of the country) are Firestone Walker, Deschutes, and Oskar Blues. If Louisiana could land these three, plus Lagunitas, there would be a lot of happy craft beer drinkers. Yeungling will be attractive to a different crowd.

don't really care about Yuengling
but DFH would be cool, they put out a ton of different beers, although a lot of their beers are hit or miss

I have a buddy that went to the Yuengling Brewery in Tampa a couple of weeks ago, he said they told him they'd be expanding into LA by the end of the year.

That stuff is everywhere around here. We can even get kegs for fundraiser events for free.

Never heard of 'Dogfish Head".
Love Yuengling- they have it in Florida and all the way up the east coast, as far as I know.
I'm sure we'll get it here sooner or later.

It's in Alabama as well; fairly sure that's the closest you can find it from South Louisiana.

I'm pretty sure DFH pulled out of Tennessee when I lived there because they were scaling back as they couldn't meet the demands of their own local market, let alone country-wide market. I thought it was a pretty "craft" thing to do - in other words, focus on meeting the demands of your local market while maintaining your quality. Is this downsizing over? Was this even true?

I can't imagine that meeting the market needs of Milton, Delaware is all that hard for Dogfish Head.
The bottom line with all beer expansion is that the breweries strategically place themselves in markets where they think they will do well. They have plenty of analytics to work with. The fact that relatively few have entered Louisiana indicates that there are other targets considered more lucrative than the home of 10oz Coors Light Pony Cans.
