Not too many people are outright calling for his head. But we would like for him to explain his pitching strategy on Sunday.

Baseball is different in that the lack of media attention and boosters attention doesn't apply pressure on many coaches around the country. LSU is a different animal. Baseball gets covered as much as the other sports and the pressure on a coach to win games is as high as any where in the country.
In addition, Mike Martin has won 40 games for about a million years straight. Rice and Stanford are academic institutions first and their success can't be measured the same. I could go on...

You should do this thread for coach Miles too.

this was absolutely our year though with all the teams going down.. the way we got to host.. nola's last season.. it just sucks to end this way when we were rolling with a 4-0 lead and a pitcher with an incredibly low pitch count going strong.
0-2 in omaha with that much talent last year sucked, but i don't blame coach PM on that.. this year's end was really a goof. all in all i like and appreciate PM for the most part and glad he is here..

That's sucks.

Javi is not one of the best in the game. CPM lost leverage with me after this weekend. I'd like to see that change, but fully realize it won't happen. Dunn is my hero.

This.
The guy gets paid enough that he should be able to take some criticism like a man.

I think you are right astro and while this does leave a bad taste in the mouth of tiger fans we are far from seeing CPM go anywhere. We finished strong going into the NCAA tourney. For who we had this season to finish the way we did was impressive in my mind. We seemed to catch fire when we needed to, an offense who struggled all season all of a sudden was clicking on all cylinders. We just got beat by a good Houston team to end our season.
I think CPM is good for LSU sure he is going to do things that piss off the fan base that make people stretch their head, but to me it seems like he has us going in a good direction. Two straight seasons of top 8 national seeds, if that trend continues one of those seasons will turn out a national championship.
yes CPM makes bad decisions but he shouldn't go anywhere.

While I think you are correct, he's not going anywhere.
BUT.... LSU walked off the field after beating Texas as winning the title in 2009... and they have not won a game in Omaha since!
Let that sink in for a minute.

They only went once since then and went 0-2 so no need to be dramatic about the numbers

CPM will win again in Omaha probably sooner rather than later.

Agreed
Comparing anyone to skip isn't fair and we need to realize that what skip did was insane. 5 titles in 10 years

Mainieri should be asked the tough questions. Someone should ask him about leaving kids in too long. Someone should ask him about how and why the base running never-ever-improved. Someone should ask him why-outside of one hot streak at the perfect time-we absolutely sucked hog at the plate and were 10th out of 14 against SEC opponents.
Instead, we'll get limp-dicked responses like, "Kids can either hit, or they can't."
You handed a Super Regional and a trip to Omaha to the opponent because of a flat out horrible decision on the part of the coaching staff.
I don't disagree that Paul's had good teams here and won a lot of games. But anyone who thinks he's above reproach is misguided at best. At worst, they're myopic.

I like CPM. He has won a multitude of accolades while at LSU (40+ win seasons, multiple SECt titles, CWS title, and so on). He is probably one of the best coaches in college baseball at the moment...
BUT we were spoiled with Skip and I don't believe that CPM will ever have the magic that Skip did. Maybe because of the bats it just isn't possible to have another run like the Tigers of the 90's? Maybe the ball parks and rules have changed too much for another Skip Bertman like era? Regardless, the Tigers will always be measured by that yard stick and we'll only be happy with championship runs.
We'll be back in Omaha again. I have no doubt. But we'll have to be happy with a championship run every now and again, instead of every other year. Were this any other school (Notre Dame, Stony Brook, whathaveyou) we'd be thanking him for another great season.

He certainly doesn't need to be fired but I'd like for him to explain why the hell he yanked bouman. And I'd also say that if next year has a similar result it may be time to reevaluate the situation.
