I know he likely won't be, but should he?

IMO this is the most egregious thing he has done thus far, and it falls entirely on his shoulders.

If the allegations are true about Berghdal being a deserter, and we just gave up 5 high profile terrorists in exchange for a traitor, then that is an impeachable offense imo. It's terrible leadership as Commander in Chief. It demoralizes our Soldiers who have lost fellow men searching for this traitor. It sets a bad precedent and will give incentive for terrorists to capture more prisoners.

On top of all of this, he directly violated a law that he himself signed by not including Congress before making a deal.

This entire debacle is absolutely disgusting. We traded 5 terrorists with American blood on their hands for a traitor and then went so far as to proclaim him as a hero in order to gain political points.

You say:

You made a determination this is the worst thing he's done while you're still unclear about everything that played into the situation. Kind of need more information before you can demote Obama to news lows, no?

Israel trades people all the time and is lauded for it. People are nuts. if he didn't do it, people would accuse of being out of touch and aloof.

He should have been impeached many moons ago. He should never have been re-elected, but over 59M asshats in this country decided he was the best option. He has no business being in the position he currently has as the leader of the free world, but this is what the American people wanted. He has done nothing but lied to the people since taking office, but over 59M asshats wanted this oak in office.

It is our fault and we deserve every single destructive thing he does to this country. Thank one of the asshats that voted for this dictatorship when you see one.

I would suggest that his illegal conduct provides aid and comfort to an enemy of the United States and there are certainly more than two witnesses.

I've heard this repeatedly, I've also heard that some Dem members of Congress are furious over his actions in pulling the end-run around them.

If this is truly against the law (apparently the administration believes the law in question, signed last year, is an infringement on his Constitutional position as Commander-in-Chief, so it may end up before SCOTUS) then it will be interesting to see Dems in Congress balance a President who pointedly breaks the law by snubbing Congress against towing the line for a Dem President.

Yes, but he should have been impeach a long time ago when fast & furious first came to light.

No because regardless if the deserter allegations are true or not, it was still egregious in the sense that he

1. Broke the law
2. Basically gave in to terrorists. We gave them 5 high profile guys for 1 guy. That's a terrible trade off even if Berghdal is legit. It sets a terrible precedent and will make terrorists want to try to capture more soldiers. Should have been 1 man for 1 man trade. And if he was a deserter, we should have left his arse over there.

IF Democrats had any conscience whatsoever, then they would make this an issue also.

This shouldn't be a partisan issue.

The Administration enjoys the moral high ground in saving an American soldier who was held by the Taliban as a POW for five years. We're America and we don't leave any of our soldiers behind.

Anyone looking to challenge that narrative has the burden of proof. I'm not saying it can't be done; it's just a minefield to pull it off without coming off as callous assholes.

A president above the law is indeed a brave new world.

Thinking people should be concerned.

Agree, until definitive proof is presented about Berghdal's desertion, very dangerous ground for the Republicans to tread on.

There is nothing more self-defeating than impeaching a man who has no chance of being convicted. No Republican should even utter the word in public between now and November 4th. Doing so would take Obamacare, the VA, Benghazi, the IRS, the NSA, etc., off the table for the 2014 elections. The Democrats would like nothing better than being given such a cause celebre before the elections.
