If Tulane was to hire Butch, you could speculate him building a damn good bullpen. Pair him up with a solid hitting coach and that team could make some noise.

What is the academic difference between Tulane and Stanford? They seem to always have competitive baseball teams, as well as a competitive football team. I also doubt it is cheap to attend there. So how is that a valid excuse for Tulane?

Tuition and admissions requirements are close to the same but endowment and how they use it are way different. Tulane's administration does not attempt to work with the Athletics side. There have been many cases of kids who meet all the requirements for academic aid being denied it because they were on athletic scholarships. This doesn't hurt football or basketball since almost all are full rides anyway, but in baseball it's a killer. Rice, Vandy, and Stanford find ways to help baseball players get aid while the folks in Gibson Hall turn their backs on them.

Do any of you Tulane folks know anyone that was paying their tuition and was asked to leave?

In terms of miles -- from about here to Pluto.

The alleged dwarf planet, not the one in Disneyworld.

I wonder if Rick Jones is contractually obligated to leave his tube sock collection behind for the next coach?

The problem appears to be that the AD, once again, entered a coaching search less than fully prepared. He's still arranging interviews, 3 weeks after our season ended.

Tuition? -- DEFINITELY. Which is a complete joke.

Admission Requirements? -

Neither is a joke, especially when you need an ACT 31 to qualify for academic aid, versus, what, a 23 to get full TOPS?

Would Tulane pull the trigger on a 29 year old with one year as a head coach? I'm hoping he stays at SLU, best I've seen the lions look in years.

Seriously, Tulane and Stanford are not even in the same ballpark as far as admissions.

Tulane's problem is the cost of tuition doesn't match the value of the experience (athletic and academic).

Which makes the point that if Stanford can field good teams, Tulane shouldn't have high admissions standards as a valid excuse.

As for the tuition, the endowment makes a lot of sense. Wasn't aware of that.

It is such a concrete fact that no one has bothered to solidify it by posting it to the internet.

So what are the admission standards at Stanford?

I know Tulane also has one of the lowest acceptance rates there is.

I saw that list, that one statistic doesn't tell close to the whole story. Southern was on that list.

How does Stanford compare? Are they really not even in the same ballpark?
