Agree and I am 100% against discrimination of any kind... But I still think a private organization should be able to pick and choose who they align themselves with.
Now if a business chose not to do business with someone based off of reasons such as race or sexuality, they would not get one red cent of my money.
I cannot stand racists and its getting to the same point with homophobes.

It's against my religion to bake for whitey.

and so you shouldn't be forced to do so against your will

I completely understand. I refuse to ride in a car with Alabama license plates.

Well, then a sign saying 'no shoes, no shirt, no service' is discriminating against a class of customers.
Edit... darn it...I now see that Tiger Saint beat me to it.

But I assure you it would be the last cake they ever purchased from me. No I wouldn't harm anyone, but that would be the worst cake they have ever eaten.
Judge Joe Brown would make you pay and make a new cake...

Aren't you also a states right person? These are local and state laws. I find it incredibly inconsistent that the same people who believe marriage should be decided by the state disagrees that the state (and city) shod be able to make their own laws on community standards.
It's terribly inconsistent but Republicans are terribly inconsistent.

That's how Prop 8 got overturned; the court decided that the citizens of California had passed a law (changed the state constitution, actually) that was in violation of the US Constitution.

As for this particular case, I think the courts probably got it right. I'm pretty sure it is settled US law that if you are in business and open to the public you must be open to all the public. You can't pick and choose who your customers are.

Wonder how long it'll be before a black bakery is forced to make a KKK cake or something similar for some racist, to prove a point.

Well when a local community passes an ordinance that businesses can't discriminate against racists, then you have something. Until then, you have nothing to worry about.
Posted on 5/31/14 at 12:34 pm to L.A.
Spot on.
Personally I don't like any local ordinances like this or blue laws or any laws which restrict the selling of just about anything. But it is what it is. People get what they want and they want this
