i love JVG. i think hes an average coach, but great calling games. so i selfishly want him to stay in the booth b/c hes terrific at it.

No he doesn't. The problem is that you are taking him seriously.
He's not serious with half of the stuff he says. You should be able to tell when he's not being serious by the tone of his voice.

I actually agree with the OP. Jeff Van Gundy is not as smart as he thinks he is and is not funny at all. I usually just ignore anything he has to say when I'm watching the game.
