No real way to measure. Both have these qualities. Hard to say who has more, but have to fit your narrative somehow.7

Can you show some stats to support this assertion? Maybe last 5 min of game+ OT in 5 point games. Don't know the numbers, but at least show evidence?

Made his teammates better. check
Lebron does this too. He took a team to the finals where his second best player was Boobie Gibson? Drew Gooden? Z?

Assists. check
Hey there you go with a substantive claim that you can back up factually, and makes sense. Good work!!

Magic CHANGED the way the game was played.. Has Bron done this????
Does changing the game=greatness?
George Mikan was so good, the NBA changed a few rules to make it more fair. Is he the GOAT because of this? Top 10? He CHANGED the GAME

I don't need #'s but gave them already in game 6 of the 1980 finals as a rookie... Plus a hook shot in 1986 with the game [and title] on the line to win the Finals ON THE ROAD at Boston... OK say what you want but Magic has and will always be more clutch than Bron....

So nothing you can actually measure. Thought so

Lol are you serious? You want me to accept that magic is more "clutch" than Lebron because he had an amazing game in the finals, and also one time hit a really huge shot?
Are you a real person with a functioning brain?

In other words I have no evidence to support my theory. But since I said so it must it be true.!!!

You have to remember, the last time PJ was actually sober was 1980

If MJ didn't exist and Magic didn't cut his career a little bit short because of HIV
Magic would be tGOAT
Magic is #2 at the moment. Lebron will surpass him soon

I think the Magic comparison is the best one you can make with LBJ, since they play somewhat similar roles for their respective teams (I like it much more than the Jordan comparison)
When you look at the teams, Lebron has to do more scoring, because he doesn't have a dominant inside game like Magic did. This also could help inflate Magic's assist numbers, since it's an easy assist to throw it in to a top 5 center and have him dunk it 6 times a game. However, LBJ gets that too when he tosses it over to Wade who slashes in for 2.
I think the entire Heat roster relies on Lebron to carry them more on an every game basis than Magic's teams did. When he doesn't play well, they sink pretty fast.

This is obviously off topic, and I know its nearly impossible to compare the 2. But I think Kareem> Magic. He is the 2nd greatest behind Jordan

lebron outmuscles opponents in a game where they call a foul if you get your clothes get touched.

If you're a hater or Kobetard (or both).

This much is true, but no matter what era or what game he played in he would outmuscle his opponents

Can you point to my post where I seem so visibly upset?
quote:
It's a tired argument. The old guard of the MJ/magic/bird era have dug their heels in, and no player will ever surpass their collective nostalgia. Right now, they use the rings argument bc it's in their favor. If they need to in the future, they will say rings don't matter bc it no longer supports their argument. It's always the same thing, and it's played out.
I wish the MJ/magic/bird jock sniffers would just go away. Back to their assisted living facility where everything in the good ole days was better and these young whippersnappers stay off their nonexistent lawn.

Where would anyone get that idea?

I look at this way.
I always said - if I were to start an NBA franchise...the one player I would pick for my team (like grade school) - it would be Magic.
Even if Jordan was a better player...I'd pick Magic...there was something about how he controlled a game and made average players awesome...and his attitude was the best in NBA history..."it's winning time" - from high school to college to the NBA as a rookie - the dude knew how to win.
So comparing games - LBJ to Magic? LBJ has some magic in him and he has come into his own...but look at the history...I'd still take Magic over LBJ - even though LBJ has taken over the modern NBA and has a better offensive game. But make no mistake - when his teammates faltered - Magic could take over as a pure scorer...as he did in numerous playoff games scoring 40+ points.
There will never be another guard like Magic - his body, his size, his mentality, his ability. I think we now take him for granted. But a man his size to play point? And to dominate like a center from point?
Football, basketball, baseball, etc...Magic is the greatest field general in sports history. As Larry Bird said..."I always wished I could play like Magic...he's just unbelievable...the best I've ever seen."
