This is the lineup I created on ASN. It lacks width, but makes up for it by giving our midfielders freedom to roam the channels. It also allows Bradley to become the point of attack with Jones and Beckerman providing cover.
There's no way in hell Jurgen does something like this, but it's interesting tactically in theory.

For sure. Not sure it gets our best midfielders on the pitch though.
Mix is an enigma for me. If he wins a starting spot, this could be a huge tournament for him. I'm just not sure where his ceiling is.

I would assume that Mix would mainly come in for Bradley. I can't really see him starting over anyone, but he's someone I'm glad to have on the team.

Agree that it doesn't seem like something JK would come up with at all.
However, and maybe I'm a pessimist, but I always think it terms of starting strong from the back above all and I like the the extra defensive midfielder against the kind of competition we'll be facing.
It kind of works too as more of midfield diamond with Beckerdreads holding and Diskerud at the top.
It's a lot of pressure on Diskeruud though to make plays when we win the ball and also intelligently mark out the deeper lying opposing midfielder.

That's one way to get Mix on the field in our normal formation. It does put pressure on Mix, but I think he's as good as anyone we have at creating chances, especially with limited defensive duties. It may keep Bradley back more than we would like, but it could create a good balance in the midfield.

I'm not sure what that second part meant
I can't decipher it either

I really don't know how good defensively Mix is.
I like the lineup you posted against middling teams but we may need defense in the WC group. Not sure how many midfield balls Mix and Zusi are going to be winning.
I kind of liked the idea of having Beckerman hold and both Jones and Bradley hounding the midfield and hopefully winning balls to start counters.

No one comes in for Bradley. Ever.

Yea, I think the whole key to our success is going to be if Bradley is able to go foward in attack.
ETA: Thats the only reason I think the Beckerman should/ will start over Jones.

The likely scenario is Diskerud replacing Zusi or Bedoya in the second half of our games. He possibly would replace Jones if we're trailing late and need a goal desperately.

I like it too, but I don't see us not starting Zusi. I wouldn't want to not start him even if Landon was on the team. Zusi has been instrumental for years now and should be at the top of his game.
If you had to name the default "3" in our 4-2-3-1 over the last 2 years, who would it be?

So Idealy last 5 min to score a goal?
-----Wondo
Bacon-Dempsey-Bedoya
---Diskerud-Bradley
I'm trying to picture it not be sarcastic.
ETA: Sorry missread

Demspey and Zusi for sure. I have no idea who the third would be with our current options. Bring up Fabian to LW and slide Dempsey in centrally? Use Aron Johannsson as a supporting striker? Maybe Mix?

I was actually trying to recall who most often started there for us during WCQ.
I looked it up.
Dempsey and Zusi were there in most games.
Fabian played the third spot more than anyone else. Other than him, it was Eddie Johnson, Herc, and Torres. And then we had the couple of games where people lost their minds over Danny Williams playing an attacking role.
So really, no one on the current roster if Fabian is definitely in the back line for the WC.

I would rather Fabian at LB, so it really could open up the door for Bedoya, maybe Mix, or even Julian Green. We are very unnecessarily thin in that position.
