Ghost what they keep leaving out is they got the hardship for him in the 8th grade because they knew he would not be eligible as an academic senior..........
Of course that was for soccer

ShYzA
Clement Mubungirwa bill heads to Jindal's desk
But why? Because you don't want a kid being bigger than everyone else hurting someone. Not the case here.
Because 19 is too old....but I guess when he was 15 playing against 13 year olds that was ok.
Also there are at least 5 kids from br alone playing at mais schools now because they would not be eligible in lhsaa their sr years
,he had his 4 years of HS eligibility he or episcopal chose for him not to play that first year...

hey, dumbfrick, his father was murdered in a war torn congo...his mother and 5 siblings moved around Africa until Clement was 12.. if any of you would just sit down with this kid for like 5-10 minutes, you would realize how dumb you all sound. Dont you think this kid has gone through enough, pal?

So no one in the state should be able to play any sport since this one kid is too old and the rules were actually enforced?

I don't see what's so wrong with realizing this is a very unique situation ... I don't see it opening up flood gates of athletes from other countries to come start for 3 years and barely miss the 4th because of the age...
I guess I can look at colors more complex than black and white

I find it odd now that some very educated folks are now starting to name call, cuss and swear at people that disagree with them on this.
Discuss the facts and opinions, no need to name call.
And when discussing facts may want to look at the meeting minutes from his 8th grade hardship appeal.

this is not a new situation and there are rules in place to handle it. The kid should have done what everyone else in this situation has done. If continuing to play sports is so important then go to a prep school or go to JUCO.
The age eligibility rules are one of the few parts of the LHSAA handbook that work and make sense. Everybody plays by the same age eligibility rules, why should this kid be any different?

Eli you are right. He has gone through so much not playing sports for one more year it shouldn't make a difference. He can play at Hargrave next year if he wants.

but guys, it does matter. From what i understand all this kid lives for is sports and to take it all away from him because he was forced to be held back is absolutely horrible

he was given that year of eligibility as a hardship on the front end, correct?
and he played soccer but not football that year, correct?
those two reasons are why many on the EC voted against his appeal.

This rule is a good rule that needs to be enforced. If you are too old you are too old, it should not matter where yo are from.

Yeah. This thing seems very cut and dry. The Lhssa never grants 5 years to anyone. And they shouldn't need to compromise. I've had many players over the years who moved to the country with nothing and didn't know the language. They each were placed a grade below where they should have been age wise and most were ineligible their senior year. This happens to help them catch up academically although there are better ways to do so. I recently had 2 guys graduate with 3.4 and 3.7 gpas respectively. Both ineligible their senior years but have taken a focus on the importance of education to their future as well as their families. Why does anyone have to have 5 years of varsity eligibility. Sounds like the school and those around this young man in question are failing him? Does it not?

Why is it crap? As an outsider, it seems like a special case. Why should he not be allowed to play? Hell Mike Dyer was 19 years old playing in a Christian league in Arkansas. What is the difference?

If he wasn't held back he wouldn't be playing this year either. He has had his 4 years of high school eligibilty. He is not being mistreated. He's just not being granted a 5th year.

a Christian league in Arkansas is not the LHSAA
i'm thinking of fair competition between schools, which is what the LHSAA promotes. The best way to change this is for one year only, in the 2014 fall and 2015 spring semesters, allow all kids up to 19 and 180 days to compete if otherwise eligible

You do not get to know information like that. Funny how conservatives care about privacy until it is something they do not like. You sound like a butthurt rivals fan.
