Stop complaining about baseball OOC schedule...

The fact that we play so many home games is more detrimental to our RPI. Two years ago, the NCAA modified the formula, so a home win counts for 0.7 and a road win counts for 1.3. Had we played the same OOC schedule, but played 2 series on the road, as well as 3 other midweek road games, our RPI would be 9, but only by a fraction.
The problem for PM is more about giving up revenue to boost RPI. The only reason we had a high RPI last year was our ridiculous 48-8 record. A typical 42-14 year will always result in a mid teens RPI.

or we could play better teams at home... Either way home/road or good/bad teams that is both complaining about OOC schedule...

no
home wins are only part of the equation
I would think playing a good team at home would do more than a bad team on the road.

As long as we keep scheduling SWAC teams other than Southern, I will not stop complaining about the schedule.

Playing 13 games against teams with 200+ RPI is detrimental no matter where you play them. South Carolina played 4 games away from home non-conference, which is one less than us (2 road, 2 neutral). Why is their RPI higher than ours when our records are almost identical?

The glut of schools in the Carolinas allows for them to play a lot of the same OOC schools that their ACC counterparts play. This helps with their OOWP and inflates all their RPIs.
We aren't selective enough with the teams we play. There was no legitimate reason for us to schedule UNO and a SWAC school on opening weekend.

Did you not understand the post? Had we played Yale and Purdue on the road, our RPI would be 6 points higher, merely because we would have been credited with 6.5 wins versus 3.5. It's simple mathematics.
The only reason ULL is 7 is because they have 50 wins - their schedule is crap.

You know what would be cool? Having a decent OOC series at the box.

Our OOC RPI is 37th and OOC Strength of Schedule is 269th.

All I'm saying is the first weekend of the season should not have been UNO and Grambling
I'm ok with playing Southern too
You can't help Purdue and Va Tech being so bad because both were regional teams when they were scheduled
It will be better next year with the Minute Maid Park games outside of the box

I guess it's true that you can't fix stupid. I said playing home games IS MORE DETRIMENTAL - not that a better OOC wouldn't help.

Its not about playing better teams.
ULL and Cal Poly played good teams?
Pretty good point OP.

I know the answer. I'm saying simply playing Grambling or Yale on the road wouldn't improve our RPI. Thanks goodness our pre-SEC schedule is much better next year.
