IDK if you can blame a coach on that one. The corner was lined up correctly and situationaly should have know he had deep third coverage. He bit on Jarvis's move when he should have just turned and run with the LSU wide out.

corner made the wrong play. they were squatting on landry as they likely figured we were headed to tie and OT. Never saw the deep ball to dural coming.

Jarvis Landry - 1,287 catches
Tavin Dural - 3 catches
I might have kept an eye on Landry as well.

137 to 7 at this point in their careers.
135 to 6 at that time.

watching th gif, i have to say Jennings places that ball rather well and it was a long pass. he could have led more but there was no need.

From the post:
That's all it comes down to. It's tempting to blame it on chalkboard stuff but really, the reads he's talking about weren't even that complex.

Jarvis called that play from the field as he saw him cheating up on him again and again when he put his foot in the ground and cut to the sideline.
Great playcall by a kid whose Football IQ was showing and a great decision to go with it from Cameron.
Great example of the type of kids we have in our program and the type of coaches we have on the sidelines.

Wrong, he was coached wrong because he did it earlier. You are forgetting that we ran that play because Jarvis told our coaches it would be open. He told them earlier in the game he noticed that's how that corner would play that set of routes!
So IF the corner was playing it wrong, his coach should have made the appropriate corrections. OR, maybe he was taught that way in that set or not coached how to play it at all....meaning we were able to catch them off guard (coaches fault).
Jarvis' smarts made that play possible!

yes i know jarvis caught it. but the corner or safety simply bit on it instead of doing what he needed to do and stay with dural. good call by jarvis, bad play by ark dbs.

Still can't believe it came down to the end of the game. Jennings should have been playing at the end of the game, but in mop up duty, taking victory knees with 5 minutes left in the game

Arkansas should just realize that LSU mad3e a great call, the freshman QB and wide out made a great play, and Arkansas was just beat on the play. In a sense, Arkansas was trying to over play Landry, which they should have on most plays and just plain got burned.
Bottom line - LSU won the game and Arkansas came away with a moral victory. Arkansas fans would be wise to forget last year and look to the future. Last year was a learning curve.

The fact that he "caught" it and knew that's how they would play it more than one time, usually insinuates that is how the coach instructed them to play it.
If the corner was someone who just decides to play a set of routes any way he chooses, he would be pulled rather quickly.
So putting it bluntly, the coach knew, from previous plays, that his corner would play that route like that! If he didn't, it's his fault for NOT knowing...
I say this knowing nothing that the coach said to the corner...he damn well may have warned him the correct way to play it and his coaching was ignored.
