Please explain the logic I've been hearing that LSU must advance to the weekend rounds of the SECtourney in order to host a regional.
LSU has 40 wins, the #3 seed in the tourney, and ranked as high as #8 in USA today poll. How are they not a top 16 regional host site, especially with the attendance/$$ factor?

Hosting is all about out of conference strength of schedule these days.

There are a lot of teams with hosting resumes. You hit the highlights of LSU's resume but they're #17 in RPI and 4-8 against rpi top 25. None of the teams on the bubble have flawless resumes so if they stumble in hoover they most certainly wont host.

It's really about comparing our resume against those we are competing with to host. RPI is borderline and our
OOC SOS is in the 70s/80s, among other things.

Many teams do, and they have much better SOS as us.

the #3 seed in the tourney
This is our strongest case. But even last year, the 3 seed didn't host (Arkansas).

Don't mean shite.

the attendance/$$ factor
Doesn't exist anymore.

First of all, there are about 4-5 college baseball polls, and LSU is around #14 in most of those. They did finish as the #3 seed for the SEC tournament, but only by a half game. The NCAA doesn't only look at SEC games. The rest of our schedule is full of the suck, while other teams played a few quality opponents. The RPI, which takes into account strength of schedule, has consistently had LSU around #15-#18 in the last two weeks. With 16 host sites, that would put LSU squarely on the bubble.

Also, for some reason baseball is the only sport in which the NCAA doesn't make a money grab and they would rather give a regional to some unknown team like Cal-Poly than a traditional power like LSU.
