The San Francisco company has hired education technology entrepreneur Tom Hayes as general manager for its New Orleans operation. Hayes, in turn, said Wednesday that he is seeking to hire a marketing manager locally and driver operations manager who would coordinate with drivers and transportation companies participating in the Uber network.

Looks like this is going to be happening pretty soon.

I've used uber in both San Fran and in Los Angeles right now. When a driver rating drops below 4.6 (5 point scale) they can no longer drive for uber. The drivers rate their customers and can refuse to pick up riders with low scores. Cars are clean and have to be less than 7 years old. No cash is exchanged (paypal and credit card) and no tip is expected. An enjoyable, hassle-free, relatively inexpensive mode of travel. As expected, taxi unions are battling uber legally.

I love Ze Ubah. Use it in Dallas whenever I'm there but I disagree with it being cheaper than cabs. I spent over $200 on it in one night just bar hopping

Uber is awesome. They pretty much came in and wrecked it in DC and forced the DC cab commission to make some drastic changes such as....ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS :omg:

the competition has been great

I used it in new York about a dozen times while I was there... Absolutely loved it. I did NOT find Uber to be cheaper than the cabs, but it was worth they extra few dollars. I always choose Uber black but frequently got a ride in a Suv (Suburban, Expedition, BMW, etc).

Uber >>>>> Carmel Limo sucks.
