I've got an extra 6'6 med action castaway rod I'm looking to put a reel on. Any recommendations? Looking to spend 80-$120 range.
thanks

I have a couple of these and they're fine reels for the price:
Shimano Symetre

Abu Garcia Revo S I've had one of these for a year on a 6'6 med action and i've had no complaints. I recently purchased a revo sx and it has been good so far too.

Okuma makes some good spinning reels in the $50 range

Mitchell 300 series of the size you want.

I have Shimano Symetres and like them. Last one I bought was a Shimano Saros. I was going in for another Symetre but the guy at bps said this one had sealed bearings and a better drag system, if that matters to you.
I have a tendency to not take care of things and after a few years my symetres become harder to reel. Hopefully this won't happen to this one.
Whatever you do, don't go pick up the Stradic Ci4. Fine as frog hair. You'll have spent that $240 before you know it.

As a part time guide who fishes 50-70 days a year I highly recommend Pflueger President for inshore and of course freshwater.I use the 6925 mostly,I went through tons of reels, some way more expensive before settling on these. Super low maintenance ,smooth drags and throw braid better than most and below your price range. Good Luck

Shimano or Okuma. Just look at the ones in your price range. As another poster said, the Stradic is awesome but a little out of your range. The new Stradic ci4 is over 200 but you can probably find a Stradic FJ for close to 160. I have that model as well and it's awesome

I have a Penn spin fisher V in the 3500 and 4500 sizes and really like them.

I have an Okuma Avenger. It's a damn fine reel. It's a bit on the heavier side though. I also have a couple of Quantum Trax reels. Lighter weight, excellent casting. Love it.

Another vote for the symetre 2500. Have 6 of them and for the price they can't be beat.

Love my Penn Battle 3000

You can find the Stradic FJ 2500 for around 130-140 on ebay. I like shimano's spinning reels. I bought three of the cheapest Sienna's and although they weren't the smoothest reels I've ever held, they never had an issue... not one. I know people who like the Symetre at $99.
