What is the best way to get rid of Gordon?

There are a bunch of very savvy NBA fans on here who know the ins and outs. How do we get Gordon off the payroll with the least amount of damage.
What the hell are our options?
I want this guy off the team more than anything. I thought Baron Davis was bad but this guy just pisses me off to no end. Twenty five percent of our cap for this lame joker...sickening.

Best thing to do is wait until he's an expiring and dump him for scraps and maybe a couple of picks.
We have AD for what - 4 or 5 more seasons at least? We can't afford to keep making mistakes. Need to be patient and add smart pieces to deals that don't strangle us like Peja, Posey, Gordon, Evans. The goal should be West contenders in the next 3 seasons. Stop trying to rush it.
Think of all the talent on good contracts like JR Smith and Birdman and Thorton and Vasquez and Lopez that we shipped off or traded. Those contracts are how championship teams are built. Our GM's are so terrible. We've lucked into two of the top 5 players in the league (CP3 and AD23) in the past 9 years and we have one playoff series win to show for it. That's all on the GMs and the coaches.

I think the only realistic deals would be pretty lopsided. We are going to get screwed on anything we try. We'd probably have to pick up somebody with a lot of question marks, but I like this trade...
Gordon, Anderson and Rivers to the Knicks for Stoudemire, Shumpert and Hardaway.
It would hurt to give up Anderson and Rivers might still turn into a good player. But Shumpert and Hardaway have great upside. Stoudemire is a big injury risk, but he is an expiring. Plus having a savy veteren sharing the frontcourt with Davis could be a good thing.

Be careful, there are bunch of Demp sheep on here. They have excuses for every one of his screw ups...that's a lot of excuses.

What has tyreke done to "strangle" us?

JR had attitude problems
Birdman was a druggie
MT5 is on his 3rd team in 4 years
Vasquez/Lopez same thing
There's a reason those guys don't stay around

Shumpert can't stay healthy(2 ACL injuries)
Hardaway is meh at best
Amare would be the only thing worth something but we're not giving up Ryno+Rivers(2 solid players on good contracts) for him

Outside of Gordon I like the roster a lot, that's not an excuse, that's just a difference of opinion.
As for the best way to get rid of Gordon, you're either going to have to take a risk on a shaky big contract coming back, like Larry Sanders or Javal McGee, or you'll have to give up an asset like Rivers or a 1st as his contract gets shorter and less burdensome.
Another option if you don't trade him is the stretch provision. Let's say in his last year he should be able to at least get $5 million per year as a FA, buy him out for $11. He makes more total money and can leave a bad situation, and the Pels can take that $11 of dead cap space and stretch it out over 3 years to $3.3 per of dead cap, which is much more workable than $15 of Gordon in the last year of opportunity to add a piece before ADs extension kicks in.
Basically paying a guy like Asik $12 ($9 + $3) is better than having one more year of Gordon and replacing his salary with an MLE player.

fify Gordon is not the only problem with this roster. He is a big one and he is a hurdle to fixing the others, but having money to spend doesn't mean you get the player you want.

The roster has holes. No wing play is the big flashing red light for me.
But there is enough shooting, playmaking, length, speed, and athleticism on board to be a playoff team. The question is do they want a team that looks/plays like that?

How realistic is this? I agree that we have to free up some money to add pieces. Unless we get extremely lucky, it won't come through the draft this year.

Get him to go on vacation on this:

Bring him off the bench. Piss him off. Cancels player option for next year. Profit.

If he stays relatively healthy I don't think him getting MLE money is unrealistic at all. If he's fully healthy his market value is pretty clearly $6-$8 million in competitive buyers market. Monta Ellis, Kevin Martin, OJ Mayo, Marcus Thornton, Gerald Henderson are all in that range. A relatively healthy Gordon is easily in that same Tier, he does need to play another 60+ games next year.

You mean on the GMs and Coaches that came before the current GM, coach, and owner?
The current GM and coach are a product of CP3 forcing his way out. They had him for their first season and then had to start all over again.
The real rebuild of this team came when they drafted Anthony Davis. Neither Kevin Durant or Lebron James won a playoff series until at least their third season.
There are actually very few current top players who have won a playoff series within their first 2 years. Especially without another big time player on their team.
