Despite doomsday warnings from the White House and lawmakers on both sides that hundreds of thousands would lose their jobs as a result of the sequester, it turns out the budget cuts have only led to one job being lost among 23 federal agencies.
Now Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., is demanding answers as to why the Obama administration repeatedly warned taxpayers that the $85.3 billion in spending cuts, which went into effect in March 2013, would threaten hundreds of thousands of jobs. The findings were revealed in a government watchdog report.
“Taxpayers expect us to root our predictions in fact, not ideology and spin,” Coburn said Wednesday in a letter to Office of Management and Budget Director Sylvia Matthews Burwell.
In response, OMB spokesman Steve Posner said in a statement to FoxNews.com there is "no question" the sequestration has had an negative impact on Americans, pointing out the report also states that employees had their hours reduced and agencies were forced to curtail hiring as a result of the cuts, among other examples.

Yeah not shocked, Sequester is back loaded on the big cuts so DoD can kill it, the big hits come in 15 and 16, and a lot of people will lose their job.

I don't think that invalidates the need for them. Sure, we can have "term limits" every electing cycle, right? Well we don't, because the sheep in this country give our Congress crooks their job back 90 percent of the time.
Just because OP would possibly follow through with "vote 'em all out", the vast majority opinion in this country is "They're all crooked except MY Congressman"...or "It's just the Democrats/Republicans who are crooked".

No, but it'll hopefully force them to pull the lever for someone other than the 80 year old POS who's been occupying the seat for the past 30-40 years.

I can tell you exactly what happens when budgets get cut.
Agency X is told its budget will be reduced by 10%. Instead of eliminating the inefficient, unvaluable, and non-mission critical programs within agency X, the agency decides to swipe 10% from all programs across the board, thus making all of the programs even less effective, even the mission critical ones which need the funding.
The result is a less effective and efficient overall federal government than you started with.
Had agency X eliminated non-essential programs (which include federal positions), the necessary/mission critical programs would have the finding they need, and the agency would be more lean and efficient in achieving its mission.
The bugget cuts are the right asnwer. The problem is how they are being executed.

There is a saying in the design world: Make something idiot proof, and all you do is make better idiots.

What the article demonstrates is that both parties inflate the truth for their political advantage,
Fear is used to move the populace to support their political persuasion
It takes way too long to document the truth or in this case the untruth
Term limits will likely never happen in this country. Voters will not vote responsibly because most are uninformed

The American people are getting the government they want.
Every politician up for re-election can be replaced at each election and be 'term limited.' The voters apparently don't want this.

sadly voters do not know what they want, they only THINK they know and that is the issue.
Some folks have no idea that they are worse off than they used to be

quote:Maybe, maybe not. Two key differences. One, the Presidency isn't designed to be a representative of his constituency. Second, it isn't a local election, it's a national election.
