Been noticing that the damn armadillos are digging up my yard & the two side pastures (fruit tree orchards) along with digging around the base of my oak trees. I've done the whole sit up on the porch & shoot em thing in the weekend but it's hard to sit up till 2-3 am during the week when I've it work in the morning. Is there another way to get rid of these lil bastards-ie. poison, traps, etc? TIA

Why would you ever use poison and deprive yourself of the joy of driving around in your truck with a 22?

They are practically blind. Just set up a live trap where they seem to be going and shoot them as you catch them. You dont even need to put food in the traps, eventually they will just walk in.

Trap em. Serously.

Set your traps along fence lines or places they will walk. If there's a watering hole they go to, put your traps between there and your oak trees. Don't even need bait. They're just dumb.

I had/have this same issue. I use those "humane" traps then drown em in the bayou once caught. I catch about 5 a year.

Live catch trap. Most efficient way to get armadillos.

I use fenceboards to make a funnel to the trap opening.

Get the cheapest trap you can find. Sometimes one will try to dig his way out of the trap and really frick up the wire on the bottom of the trap.

I have the same problem. I re-did my flower beds about a month ago and one of those frickers has already dug it up twice. Little gopher looking holes all throughout it. Luckily, it hasn't damaged the plants yet but its only a matter of time. I have a trap that I need to set but I don't know what to use as bait. I know they eat worms but I don't know what else.

My cell phone has this awesome feature called an alarm. Once I realize what time they are moving on the weekends, I set my alarm for that time during the week.

Put cayenne pepper around the areas if you can't shoot or trap. They can't stand it. But if it rains, you have to reapply

If you have access to an old gill net, lay it across the ground where they are digging. Once they get into it its over, they get wrapped up and cant get out. Walk up to them and pop a cap in them. Problem solved.... Works like a charm!

They are going after the grubs & other critters in the ground. Get rid of their food source = get rid of the dillos.

On the other hand, who doesn't like hunting those bastards??? Set alarm and cap their asses at night.

Electric fences work well. My dad has used them for years.

You're out $100 and you can sleep all night.

Plus you don't have to worry about dealing with the pissed off coon, skunk or opossum you caught instead.
