Same character role, different actor

So I was talking movies with my friend today. And when I say friend, I mean my 11 year old dog. And I mentioned how both Deniro and Brando won oscars for the same character - Vito Corleone.
It got me thinking, what are some great characters that 2 different actors have given outstanding performances?
Now, for the sake of discussion, lets keep the character relatively specific. Don't name 2 people that have played the devil, but rather 2 people that have played Al Capone. A gunslinger won't count, but Doc Holliday works...

Well since you mentioned Holliday, I thought Quaid and Kilmer both did excellent jobs.

The two actors that played Secretariat, albeit in different movies: Secretariat and Sex and the City

My thoughts as well. Other than Vito. Doc would be my go to, hence the example.

Well two obvious ones are James Bond and Jack Ryan.
I'll dork out and say Dumbledore from Harry Potter even though as a nerd book reader I was really disappointed with Micheal Gambon giving not one frick about the source material.
Then there are comic characters like Batman, Joker, Superman, Lex Luthor, Hulk, Spiderman etc.

Jack Ryan - Four different actors.
Hulk - Three
Superman - Five?
This topic is actually not too hard.

I was thinking that comic book heroes would be an obvious choice, but if you have one answer, would you really choose that?
Keaton and Bale is the best the MB could say? Does superman really offer any better choices?

Anthony Hopkins and Mads Mikkelsen as Hannibal Lecter.

The question wasn't to to name every possible answer. It was to name the best.
I could go on all day on possible answers. But I want to hear the best performances.

I think you would find a lot of people who argue for Val Kilmer was actually the best Batman b/c he was probably the most well rounded playing both Bruce and Bats. I'd venture to guess that this board would lean towards saying Keaton was the better "Batman" while Bale is the better "Bruce Wayne".
Superman? Sure, there have been so many to play him that there are real discussions to have on who handled what aspect of the character better. Usually people seem to focus on who plays Clark the best since Reeve played him so well. I wouldn't be shocked to see some prefer Dean Cain, Tom Welling or even George Reeves over CR though. Henry Cavill and especially Brandon Routh are kind of screwed with that though since the Clark persona wasn't given much to work with in their movies.

You missed your opportunity to say Nicholson and Ledger playing yourself

I agree with Nicholson/Ledger and Brandon/DeNiro. All four of those guys did a great job.
For a comedy movie, I thought both Rob Lowe and Robert Wagner were great in the Austin Powers sequel.
