At certain times of the year they catch specks and reds right out of the marina in point aux chenes, plus you have island road to fish and crab. I remember doing that as a kid when my grandparents had a camp around there. We've caught ice chests full of crab in a few hours.
I fished the marsh north of lake Boudreaux last weekend. There are ways to get way up in the marsh. They had people fishing from land that I couldn't figure out how they got there. Buddy caught 20 reds and a few specks there recently. Lots of people fish there and robinson canal.
Problem with side the road is you will catch 25 catfish to 1 target species. But fishing's better than not fishing.
