I wouldn't spend too much money on that 16 tbh...just save up to but a 23-35 hp surface drive or at the least a better longtail bc honesty you're going to want to upgrade the hp/speed in no time once you get some hours behind the stick on that boat

Everything I was gonna say has been covered except, keep a small toolkit with the essential in it: multi-bit screwdriver, crescent, etc

Good idea to get one of those smaller sized plastic dryboxes. Keep a handful of tools (screwdriver, channel lock, etc), any extra bulbs you might need, hand pump in case bilge pump goes out and you lose plug, spare trailer bulbs, spark plug, fuel filter, whatever.

I was gonna say this, but I don't think you're putting a 35 surface drive on a 14' boat. But, otherwise, this.

Yes! Including the correct size socket and ratchet for changing the trailer tire.
Also, do some measured runs and see what kind of gas mileage and what kind of speed you get out of the motor. Like some of the others have said, it's not gonna be real fast. Just some things you need to consider. Feels a lot safer tho when you're running in the dark lol.

Well since nobody else will say it I will.....
The motor is on backward. The prop goes on the outside.
Happy to help pal

Another thing for OP, I think it was mentioned but check all the hardware, nuts and bolts on the trailer. Especially what's holding the boards on, and check the wood on the boards. It's easy to replace now if something's bad but sucks donkey when you're trying to trailer a boat and something breaks.
Also, if it happens to be a magic tilt trailer, check the holes that the pin and bolt go through at the spot where it's made to pivot. Talk about a shitty hour and a half at the launch in the midday sun trying to North BR-engineer the 2 halves of your trailer back together enough to put the boat on it and pull it an hour home
Oh. And extra plug. Always have an extra plug.

Wow! That sounds shitty
Anyone have any recommendations for exhaust? It doesn't have a muffler on it.

this exact same thing happened to me. i put it back together with some bailing wire someone lent me and a bunch of ratchet straps.

To the OP, please, for the love of God, spend the extra 2 dollars and get the stainless steel one..
