I hate the redskins as much as any team in the NFL. Snyder can eat bags of dicks. That said, they shouldn't have to change the name. Although I wouldn't mind the Redtails for the lulz.

Nah, Silver put a ton of pressure on himself. How will he handle the next situation like this?
He really didn't have much of a choice.

The other option, a lesser suspension would have received a harsh backlash.

What he could of done, is went to Sterling and gave him the 411.

either be a dick and fight this, or let me help you sell this thing for a big price, and you quietly go away, and can rail on the nba and me as if we pushed you out. I'll even let you walk away slowly, so you look like you fought us till the end.

till then we let your wife take over day to day owner under the premise of a suspension, throwing a bone to the fire breathers.

Everywhere I'm reading says Sterling won't even be able to get this to court, due to the language in the owner's agreement.

Sterling has an anti-trust case if they force him to sell.

Collusion to earn him from making a wage from his primary asset.

Meh. You always have a choice. Making a hasty decision is not a good choice. It isn't the choice that a real leader makes. He took the extremely easy way out. People view Silver as some type of pioneer. He's a pansy who pandered, nothing more. The players should be licking their chops and wondering what else they can flinch about and get their way.

His abrupt action will prove to be bad for the NBA and owners. But, it is great for the players. They now know that they can create a storm and that this new Commissioner will bow down.

First of all, there's nothing racist about the Redskins name.

Second of all, the reason Silver had to act so swiftly with Sterling is because the NBA is an 80% black league.

What is the percentage of Native Americans in the NFL? Not much.

The legal guys, at least all the ones I've seen, disagree with you.

Yea? If you're not Native American, that's not for you to decide, fwiw.

Look it up, most places will tell you it's often a slang term that is disparaging.

The Redskins would have been better off with a specific tribe name, at least that way you can purchase their consent.

The legal guys I have seen such as Cossack and from CBS say he do. Plus the precedent is set in the NFL via FA and MLB FA. Collusion was proven and it was an easy sell.

They can not tell a man he can not make a wage off of his primary asset. Especially when he has broken no written law or the morality clause may be easiest one to get, but then all he has to do is prove another owner feels or has said same thing and it goes back to collusion.
