Has anyone (Alleva) pitched this? Considering that we're bascially two conferences now with a scheduling agreement and a play-off between the champions, why don't we only count divisional games for the division champion? I mean, we don't count the non-conference games against other "Big Four" schools in the conference standings--and that's basically what the East division has become.

Spurrier had brought that up in the past and gotten very little support for it.

No, we are one conference, even if it.is not scheduled as such.

Think of it like any professional league, cross division count (outside of tiebreakers) just like any other games.

If you play them they should count. Regardless, because of tie breaker rules, x div games counts less than divisional games anyway.

Schedule the East Div teams as OOC match ups.

Instead of starting the season playing Syracuse in Some pro stadium to be announced, let's play Georgia, South Carolina, Mizzou, etc in home and home matches.

but that's silly.

The games are going to count nationally so they should count within the conference. Otherwise we could see a lower ranked divisional champion playing for an SEC championship if their losses came from the other division.

They should count further down the tie breaker IMO.

Yes. This is not the SWAC. End of discussion.

I like the idea. I mean if you lose to 2 East team but beat every west team, are you not the best in the west (more likely to happen in the east)

No, it should be used as a tie breaker criterion. They are not the same caliber teams.
