Well we'll be boiling bugs over there on the north side, watching the ponies and delving in the corn liquor in the event you want to sneak away.

Let me suggest one thing with Juleps: a lot of julip recipes are super strong (as they should be), but you'll get a better party drink by watering it down some and freezing it. Then, for the party, put it in the blender. My SO and I did frozen julips for a pool party a while back and they were a huge hit. Just the right balance of cold, sweet, flavorful, and knock you on your arse. Can't recommend enough.

Also a good idea is to have a rye Benedictine julep. It's quite nice.

Been told also to use a straw so that sips of bourbon have the sweetness of the syrup or sugar that settles at the bottom.

And to pepe...a bottle of makers is like what, 20 bucks ? Not much of a waste.

I did frozen julips

If I'm doing a party, I'm not serving frozen julips. Mojito would be more ideal. To me it's no longer a julep once it's watered down.

I am now trying to grow some Kentucky Mint in my backyard. I tried in the past and failed, but so far this time is going well. Soon I will be able to have an endless supply of my favorite drink

We had made a ton of regular julips for one party, but we had a jug of the stuff leftover that we froze to use for the next one. Worked out surprisingly well. It had the consistency of frozen coke with the flavor of a mint julip minus the bitterness. It was just sublime for party time.

y'all know Makers makes bottles of Mint Julip? apparently only sold in Kentucky with a green label. Friend gets some every year. It's pretty good.

Used to have it around nola a few years back, was pretty good. They also had an Early Times version.
