I don't understand the Golf Channel's golf coverage..

When the PGA Tour changed their Q school format, the idea was to put more emphasis on the Web.com Tour. Yet the Golf Channel has basically ignored it in favor of the LPGA Tour. There has been more LPGA coverage this year than some full years. I see where only 4 Web.com tournaments will have some limited coverage this year. Tons of good players and some ong time PGA Tour members are relegated to the Web.com tour under the new format but there is now far less coverage while there is far more coverage of the LPGA Tour. It's as if Title IX has crept into professional golf. I don't get it.

He's right. Nobody is watching LPGA.
It's like dragging your teeth across the pavement.

Agreed. I would rather watch NGA Tour events than the LPGA. Hell, I'd rather watch Amateur events.
I have zero interest in the LPGA.

New commissioner for LPGA is very good at promoting and selling. He sold his vision to the golf channel as a part if get golf ready now because it's the women that the pga can convert to golfers the most. Really smart guy. All what matters on web.com is the final tournaments with the mixture of pga pros. Those will all be televised.

They just need to convert the LPGA to Hooters girls playing golf in bikinis. They maybe people would be interested.

I would just like to see the ratings these LPGA events are getting. They have to be abysmal.

I'd rather watch 24 hours of Golf Academy and Playing Lessons than LPGA or Web tourneys.

The ratings were it's highest ever in 2013 and is up something like 200% since 2010.

The LPGA Tour is more interesting/lucrative than the Web.com Tour for corporate sponsors, golf companies, fans, and the general populous.

I'll chalk it up to people like my Dad who fall asleep with the Golf Channel on or those who just leave the TV on in the background.

No offense, but if the LPGA commissioner was able to sell the Golf Channel that bill of goods then they aren't as smart as I thought they were. The ENTIRE point of changing the Q school format was to greatly strengthen the Web.com Tour and make it a clear #2 tour in the world ahead of the European Tour. I just assumed that meant far greater coverage with the Web.com tour basically being to the PGA Tour what college football is to the NFL. In other words, the new format would strengthen both tours and drive the money up considerably for the Web.com Tour. I thought that was the idea but apparently the Golf Channel didn't get the memo.

The ratings are up thanks to the fitness movement, and the diminishing FUPA effect it has had on the LPGA.
But have an upvote doc.

As pleasing to the eye as a few of the LPGA players are, it's just really hard to get into the golf itself. Much like the Champions Tour, it's just hard to care about.
Speaking of the Champions Tour, it even gets WAY more exposure than the Web.com Tour.

The LPGA isn't bad to watch. It combines two things most guys like: golf and (for the most part) fit, tan women.

I guess I'm in the minority but I like watching the LPGA. You get to see attractive women (along with some not so attractive ones), playing golf.
Also since most of them don't even hit the ball as far as I do, and can't really spin it a ton like the PGA guys, I like seeing the shots they try because they are similar to shots I would try.
Of course they are successful in their shot attempts way more often than I am, which I think is the most interesting part. You watch the PGA guys and they hit 200yd 8 irons that hit and stick and you're just like damn I could never pull that off. But you watch the LPGA and these girls are shooting under par but hitting the same types of shots you hit, and a lot of them don't even hit it as far as you do, it's impressive.

There's no question it's impressive. I happen to drive by Northriver Yacht Club in Tuscaloosa when I was in town for A-day a few years ago and the SEC Women's Golf Championship was there. I watched a few groups play their second shots into into a par 4 over water with the pin tucked in a swale where the ball would funnel down to the hole if hit in the correct precise spot. Watched a girl lip out for a 2 while another girl holed out for a 2 and a few others hit it in the leather. The swings and quality ball striking they displayed was very impressive.
I don't have a problem with them showing more LPGA golf as long as they also show a lot of Web.com tour golf as well. It doesn't even have to be live, just tape the coverage and show it later or on week day evenings if they have to.

Dufner is playing in China and not very well. Do you think he has a translator?
