Well you're a man of principles I guess. Stick to your guns

Yeah who would want a huge, mobile, accurate qb with one of the strongest arms in the history of college football

Looks to me like Mel Kiper is wrong on a lot of things.

What? The dude had a bazooka for an arm and was built like a tree. Someone was going to take a shot with just that even if it was in the 6th round. People didn't know he had no work ethic or maybe didn't care

I cant help but laugh when people bitch about Kiper. He has made a fortune, and all the while everyone else on a message board could do his job for him without scouting a single player, right?

All of the other draft analysts are enjoying success because of Kiper. Personally, I envy Kiper for turning a hobby into an empire.

The only downside to watching NFLN's pre-draft coverage is missing out on Kiper and McShay swordfighting with their weenies.

He made money spewing random bs.

He could be wrong, people would say 'well thats how the draft goes'

He could be right, people would say 'man he knew his shite with [insert player]'

I want that life/job.

Dude - it's impossible to be 100% correct when banking on the success of another person. Kiper takes muddy dumps with better scouting ability than anyone in this thread.

Same here. I know it's cool to hate on the guy, but do people really expect him to know every pick every team is going to make in advance? Sure he may be wrong on evaluating players at times, but so are the scouts that work for these teams. According to this LINK he's the 5th most accurate among mock drafters in the last 5 years.

No kidding. Mel's not perfect by any means, but the guy puts his mocks and big board out before most, if not all. There's a reason every mock draft released by the media guys have the same group of guys going around the same range, and it isn't because they all watch film and come up with their own analysis that happens to be similar to the next guy's.

Like I said, I don't care if you believe me or not. The kid was an idiot, how was he supposed to be able to read an NFL defense? Name one, modern-day, dumb NFL QB that can't scramble. Just one.

You don't go 22-4 over your two years starting full time and have the best statistical passing years in school history and not be able to read defenses. That's dumb. Furthermore, if you really are surprised he was drafted you're either a.) fricking retarded or b.) in pre-school in 2005-06.

Kiper made the draft coverage what it is today. I have been following him since his early days (and actually invested in his draft guides for over 20 years (until he just stop publishing it). Before it was a huge TV production, he was putting out valuable information and helping on ESPN with the little coverage they used to provide back in the late 70s and early 80s (maybe even earlier). All the rest have benefited off of the empire he began.

When I pushed the link, I expected to see something about Mayock's love affair with Cutler. He called him the next Elway (although at least he was right in liking him better than Young).

yeah, I've never really had a problem with him.

I like how some people act like they have figured out the art of scouting by bullshitting around on the internet.

the draft is a crap shoot every year.

I like Mayock too but I'm not about to listen to every thing he has to say.
