BS. You have nothing to back that up with and Haslett was heavily involved in picking the players they drafted.

so do you think Haslett had a say with Randy Mueller?

Yes, but in that situation you have a GM that came up through the scouting ranks so it was probably more 50/50, especially since it was during their first two seasons.

lol, Veteran personnel guy with a rookie head coach? Haslett had little say with Mueller.

Maybe more of a 50/50 with Loomis. Even so, Loomis was terribly under qualified to be a general manager when Benson hired him, and it showed quickly. He's lucky he even made it to the next regime.

The good GMs know they should work with the coaches to build a team.

So either Mueller was a bad GM that tried to do it by himself, in which case it's good he's gone, or he and Haslett worked together.

Mickey helped hold us steady(after he took over) after a surprising 2000 season which set standards too high. And as I showed, whether you put it on him or Haslett, we did alright in the draft between 2002-2005 where other teams have done a lot worse.

After the Katrina season Loomis did the right thing(even though Haslett got a bit off a raw deal) and starting rebuilding the team because it was obvious we weren't heading up. He didn't hire Haslett but he did the right thing in firing him, fixing someone else's mistake.

He hired Payton, we brought in Brees and retooled the team, had a great year, realized that our DC sucked after 2 down years so moved on, and hired a guy that helped us get to the Super Bowl(and moved on after we realized he was a bit too eccentric). Then we quickly moved on from Spags and made the best coaching hire of the year, behind or tied with Reid, in Ryan.

Since 2009 we have been in the hunt outside of the cluster frick of the bounty year. So we have been on the right track under Loomis and he is showing that we are progressing ever forward.

Not sure what you don't like about being tied for second in wins(with the Packers) since 2009 behind only the Patriots.

Nobody is perfect, and even when Loomis makes one of these mistakes he corrects it, which is A LOT more than can be said for other GMs, many of which no longer have jobs.

So I, for one, am happy that we have a GM that corrects his mistakes.

shite Micky Loomis is like 0-10 in drafting LB's over his tenure alone. we arent even talking 1 year. That's like a span of 12 years or so.

i think the last time the Saints drafted a LB in the 1st round was Mark Fields. 1995...1996?

oddly enough, he was the last one that was really worth a shite draft wise.

Vilma and Fujita were solid but both were free agents. Lofton has done okay but meh... I was hoping for a little bit more.

I used to get super annoyed late in the Haslett era during the draft. It was like he was playing some cruel inside joke on the Saints and the fans.

I don't know how involved Loomis was in the player selection back then but shite... terrible.

i remember wanting Derrick Johnson one year but they took Jamaal Brown instead. Brown was okay i guess but he sure didn't stick around long with the team.

Johnson has lasted a long time with the Chiefs. Still doing alright for them I think.

All very true. These guys have to talk non stop for months...on the record.

i think part of the problem is that a lot of fans probably watch ESPN in some endless loop and probably just get tired of hearing what they think is the same shite.

I've stepped away from watching a lot of their programming. Not because I'm not interested in what they have to say... but I just really got burned out on shows like Sportscenter for example.

i must have watched that show more than any other growing up. Not kidding. I think i was like 22 or 23 when I finally snapped out of it.

Jason David, Charles Grant among others on the free agent/re-signing side. as far as drafts, too many draft picks to list.

Even Belichik said it was the best workout he had ever seen.

I mean, had Jamarcus gone anywhere but OAKLAND, I say his career turns out very differently.

Not saying he would've lived up to the hype, but you cant tell me that having him in a more professional atmosphere wouldn't have helped his development.

Unless you saw him play in College where he looked like a less mobile, more cocky, Aaron Brooks.

Just stop. The 06 LSU offense was beyond prolific. That was by far the most talented team ever assembled in Baton rouge. The only thing that could get in their way was their own coaching, it did... Twice. Jamarcus could've put up some of the greatest numbers in history had not gone so conservative a number of times.

Its possible. But getting handed 20 million dollars for doing nothing does not help one's motivation.
He would have done much better working towards that 1st big contract like most have to do now.
Anyone heard if he's working to get a tryout this year?
