How did you find your current job/career?

Did you seek out job options, or did a head hunter/associate/competitor seek you out?
Going to start browsing the usual sites online to get a feel for what is out there. Been working full time since graduating 5 years ago.
A couple of my contacts at work (clients- not the same industry as current employer) have told me casually that I should let them know if I begin looking for other employment. If it gets serious I would consider doing that, but if nothing comes from it I wouldn't want to jeopardize my current employer's relationship with them.
Curious how the OTers earned their current positions. Or should I just quit and move to a beach?
TIA

I ate a lot of mushrooms and decided I wanted to run a farm. Transferred to a college where they offered a program that taught how to run one. Borrowed capital from family members to purchase property and equipment.

People made poor choices. They then offered me money to make the poor choices not impact them negatively going forward.

Been watching real world/road rules challenges for years and decided I could compete with those people and love to travel. So I made a couple phone calls to friends and they got me in touch with the right people. Been competing in challenges now for 5-6 years

Was casually (I thought) laying pipe and several of the womenses said "You lay pipe like an OT-Baller Pron star."
I said to myself: "Hmmmm self".
Next thing I know, I'm getting paid AND laid.

Received a random thing in the mail notifying me that my hospital was hiring nurses with a 20k bonus after 1 year of work. Applied online, was interviewed for like 15 minutes at the hospital and offered the job right then and there. That was almost 7 years ago.

Most online sites aren't the best way to find work. Alot of those jobs aren't really open. Companies post them for perception that they are doing well. You have to find an in with human contact.

I knew the right people. Started my career with an inspection company from a reference. My reference was looking for a company for a nuclear plant shutdown. Spent 3 years in refineries and paper mills. Got into the nuclear field. Now, I work half the year and get paid pretty well.

Cold call by a headhunter that snagged my resume from who knows where. It was several years out of date.
He was looking for a contract to direct position with an Oil major. I jumped. 8 years later last Monday. Pretty scary to go contract since I was with a smaller petrochemical company. Couldn't have been a better choice.

At LSU so take a guess....
However I'm looking to go into oil and gas, have some connections through family. Considering doing the litigation side that goes with oil and gas land management.

I graduated college with a low GPA and no experience, which was 100 percent my fault for having issues and not dealing with them.
I decided to take the civil service exam, slaughtered it, and applied at multiple positions. I was extremely lucky and landed in a spot that allowed me to use my creativity to design new auditing procedures and test different accounting theories and practices while still having enough work to rest my brain every now and then. Some of those worked out, I was promoted a year after I was hired, and now I'm studying for my CPA. I honestly don't know what I'll do after that.

I've had 4 jobs since college, interviewing for another now. Companies have web sites...
First one I got through a climbing buddy. That guy really helped me out, though he got a nice bonus after my first year.
Wife's mom probably helped me get my next one, but you never know.
Transfer.
I had interviewed for a position with the company I'm with now but it wasn't a right fit. They called me when the right job came up.
Next one, hopefully, just applied through their site.
